  • Sounds like everything is going well with the business, your hard work is paying off. Fingers crossed you get a good price for the large item you're selling.

r.e. the store cupboard I like to have some extras in as I'm out so often in the evening that we need to have something available to cook, that said if we meal planned properly like I keep saying then it would be fine for the week! The supermarket is across the road so it's not that far to go to pick up bits and pieces if needed. My folks though have so much in their store cupboard, fridge and freezer that it would probably feed us for a few weeks. and they still go shopping every Saturday. I think stock piling is fine for necessities when they are at reduced price and if you have the space to store it.

Sounds like another good day. H x

    Hi All

Well today has been quite a long one, but I was out of home/anywhere most of the day from 7.30 till 5pm.

    Wealth

    * A great week so far, had another party booking confirm very quickly. Total taken in new business so far £250. Last week was so slow for revenue although enquiries kept up, so this is a great week!

    * Have taken £1450 for the month so far which is good as it's only the 16th. I still don't have much to compare it to as I've only been operating 5 months so far. For the first month I had to borrow to pay the overheads so it's only been the last 4 that we've been properly going! December was the peak at £2,300.

    * I don't think I'm going to be far off for BBB

    * I met with two clients today, who have some great ideas and I'd like to work with. I do feel very lucky to be meeting great people almost every day. There are so many small business people out there.

    * I have set up an automated round up on my new FD account and set it for the last day of the month, sweeping all but £5 out of the account the day before OH gets paid. Might manage to get a few more ££s saved that way.

    * The bank statements I had to send my new business bank have been returned so I'm hoping that means I've been accepted.

    * I think I am going to put my pension contribution up. I have just about managed to keep it going all this time being in debt. I did have a brief moment of feeling miffed when going through all of OHs stuff. I started my pension at 22. He didn't until 30. But because I have been self employed for 5/6 years now I've now got a lot less than him. I don't begrudge him his good fortune having employer contributions. Just have that classic what if tiny voice at the back of my head.

    Health

    * All good. Have walked a lot today.

    Organisation

    * Really not much today due to being out for so long. There was a school event this morning so we all went to that. Then the timing of my meeting meant it was not worth going home.

    Bob

Me being dense here Bob BBB??? What does this mean

It is definitely going the right way. The fear is always there though that the last booking you take will be the last booking you take if you follow me :)

Hi Scott ,BBB is Bob's Big Bill. I have a £1300 bill to pay in full by the end of March. Buildings insurance + accountants bill for services.

I have a venue for hire. I run it on my own. So my job is basically finding clients, doing viewings, taking bookings, and maintenance of the place. The end goal is to be taking much higher value bookings. Which at the moment I am getting enquires for but not winning for whatever reason. Some of them are very good money. For now I am making ends meet on mainly private events, like parties and gatherings.

I totally recognise that fear! My bookings come in at about one a week/fortnight, and my stress levels rise the longer I go without a booking.
Trying to figure out a whole new life. Trying to figure out a whole new budget.
Divorcing, unclear on final debt total right now, but focusing on building a financial buffer zone.

We must be in a very similar situation. I seem to take more bookings at the start of the month generally. Overall I'm happy with the direction things are going but last week I only took £37.50 in new revenue. Most of the time it's seeming to be about £250 a week of new business. I also don't have much control over payment timings which is a pain if you get a bad payer...

  • Good work, Bob

I keep meaning to mention that you are almost entirely to blame for my new Endevour obsession btw. You mentioned it on here weeks ago, and I have now watched about 8 hours of it and have a slight crush on Shaun Evans (is that normal?)
