so the clock speed is 1680? 1.6?

Forgive the daftness - this end of computers is really not my thing (though I'm trying to learn I feel like I'm flailing with all the numbers)

    I need minimum 2.8Ghz clock speed:o

Clock speed when comparing older processors can be meaningless as newer processors are able to execute more instructions per clock cycle and also have more than one core plus a whole heap of other enhancements that makes the original spec you have been given is misleading and out of date. Think of it this way that a processor 10 years old and a clock speed of 2.8GHz (2,800,000,000 Hz) is a whole lot slower than a than a modern processor with a clock speed of 1.4GHz

An analogy is a 2.0L car from the 1970s is considerably outperformed by a 2.0L car from 2010. A 70s car may only generate 90bhp but a car from 2010 may generate 200bhp
Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.

AS you require minimum XX would you mind telling us what for and why ??

Must admit its years since i looked at clock speed .
  • it's the specification I've been given which is required to run the software I believe.

that's the what for, the why is to enable the software (and me) to work :)

Like an Acer iconia Tab 10?

It has a Quad Core CPU Bay Trail CPU. You can hook it up to your monitor when home and carry it around when not.

You can use a standard keyboard and mouse with it when it's plugged into your monitor.

whilst the actual pc hardware spec listed maybe irrelevant in this day and age other factors may come into account, even now whilst laptops are comparable in spec they are not really suitable for doing working days on, aside from heat issues the actual ergonomics of doing 4hrs or more may lead to rsi from overuse of an unsuitable keyboard etc.
Also consider reliability if you come to start your shift and the machine breaks, it will be a lot cheaper/practical to get a standard desktop pc up and running if you plan for it.
Maybe consider buying a couple of dell returns base units.
Ps better ask if they do actually require a modem as listed in the specs, rare but not unconceivable

Are you employed or self employed/contracted?
I'm an employed home worker and my laptop etc have all been provided by the company. As have all the relevant risk assessments.
It seems unusual to be expecting you to fork out for yourself otherwise, especially if they're telling you what you need.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
