Id mobile number

  • I was about to post exactly the same, id confirmed that every person who wanted to call our id number could ask their provider to register the number as UK but said obviously not practicable so they've agreed to cancel and waive the 30 notice period (thankfully bought online and 1 month rolling).

Shocking from them, wonder if it's a wheeze to subsidise their cheap plans?

The error is all on Tesco Mobile's side. They incorrectly classed 07452 9 as Isle of Man when it is not.
  • ID told me that it would happen to all networks though, not just Tesco? I can see online it clearly shows as being allocated to three but id cancelled as they told me all callers would find the same not just Tesco, very odd they are telling us different things

  • Glad to hear you're sorted, well done to you and your friend for sticking with it!

Tesco mobile have still not got back to me - it's now over two weeks since my original call, although I have been out of mobile signal intermittently within the last week (North Devon!) I've tried to call this morning but their minimum waiting time is 10 minutes so I'll try again later.

It does not follow because one network mucked it up others followed. It was Tesco that got the charging instructions wrong no sign of other providers having done so. Unlike Tesco they no doubt loaded data correctly.
  • See ID told me that the company that generates the phone numbers had attributed all the 07452 9 numbers to the Isle of Man/Channel Islands, and it was up to each network to remedy this, not that it was Tesco's fault - to be honest I didn't question this and would rather just cancel and go elsewhere

"the company that generates the phone numbers"

    Eh?

Mobile providers apply to Ofcom for mobile telephone numbers in blocks of 100 000 numbers at a time. Ofcom, and many others, then publish a list of those allocations.

    07452 7, 8 & 9 is detailed as 'Three UK'.
  • Yes I know that but was just quoting verbatim what ID told me, I had already seen the list of allocations. I just decided if ID were going to make it up as they went along I'd be better off jumping ship whilst I still could!
