wife crunched car

Is it worth my wife claiming on our joint insurance policy for a dented and scratched car sill and door bottom, caused when reversing out of our local Tesco , she hit a low brick wall (12"high and pointless)
It is about 12 inches long and is not deep
The car is a 3 year old Suzuki Swift
She told me "it suddenly appeared" !!!
Roughly what would this cost if we pay for it ourselves?

Get a couple of quotes and then decide if its worth it.

Previously my dad did something similar, cost about £500 to repair iirc.

Then you have to decide if you are going to report it to the insurance company, as you should.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

If considering keeping this under the insurer's radar, bear in mind If there is any damage to the wall and any chance the incident was witnessed or on cctv then it's worth complying with your policy conditions and informing your insurer (as the wall's owner may well do!)

Did she also run over the brickie who must have been in the process of building the wall if it "suddenly appeared"?

Wait for the wall owner to show their hand first?

As far as I was told - the car lost the argument and the wall was unscathed

And potentially both lose NCD - not a good idea
I have 34 years claims free driving, my wife 25 years

You won't both lose NCD in the event this is a claim

Only the policyholders NCD will be affected

(You say you have a joint policy, but presumably you mean one of you is the policyholder and the other is a named driver)

Whoever is the policyholder ought to consider protected NCD before the next collision!
