General kitchen utensils not supplied despite promised, speak to LL?

Have you got an inventory? I'd certainly query it with the landlord, just to make sure you aren't charged for 'missing utensils' at the end of your tenancy, but it wouldn't be a big deal to me to buy my own, in fact I'd prefer it.
With regards to the internet I would definitely query that if the ad stated it would be included. Although, maybe weigh up the costs vs. whether it is worth risking a poor reference or having to find somewhere else, if they don't provide it for you.
We had a student house where the LL sold it over the summer before we moved in but bought all of our contracts included. New LL then tried to charge us extra for water rates, stating that us students aren't responsible enough to keep track of water usage. A few official letters back and forth to explain we were responsible enough to ensure water rates were included in our rent and stated in our contracts, meant he had to give in, but he certainly tried hard to get our deposits off us at the end of that year!
They generally don't like being challenged but definitely protect yourself by stating everything that was and wasn't included in inventory when you moved in, so you can't be charged for it later.0 -
I got it through a website and it has a list of things and ticks beside what is included i.e washing machine, dishwasher, internet
And the advert says "includes all bills"
And when I emailed I asked LL is I needed to bring anything for bedroom or kitchen such as bedding and plates and was told I needed own bedding but things were in kitchen.
I am not 18 I am a mature student, I don't have much room to store crockery nor money, I am not getting a loan I am doing a college course and staying on disability benefits and cheap pots and pans end up useless quickly, I know its a small outright cost but I can't afford it.0 -
Cheap pots and pans have lasted me fifteen years so far!
Ask the landlord, get him to sort out the internet as that is an ongoing cost, if he can't provide the utensils then go to a supermarket or Ikea and pick up your own. If you're really stuck then ask on Freecycle.
Alternatively, kick up a fuss and enjoy a very uncomfortable tenancy.0 -

To me that's too stressful so I would either ask around if anyone has any extra kitchenware or go to IKEA. You really don't need a lot. I saw an article where all you really need is 1 saucepan, 1 frying pan, 1 good knife and 1 bowl.0 -
So when the LL's inexpensive kitchen tools end up useless quickly and you either have to replace them or are charged way over what they really cost?

Nearest IKEA is like 70 miles away, we do have a Wilko nearby but I bought stuff from there before and it never lasts the pans the first time something is burned on and you scrub it off it takes away the black paint and leaves the metal bit that rusts all all time and even if you clean it before use the food tastes metallic.
I would also need cutlery, plates, can opener, spatula, measuring jug and more than 1 pan as what if I wanted to make something like mince and tatties.
No inventory either.0 -

Can you go to the Charity Shop or a boot sale and look for some stainless steel or cast iron pans? The rest of the items you can get at the pound store.
The alternative is to have to ask your landlord every 2 months to replace a £3 non stick pan or a 25P spoon and see how that goes.0 -

None around here, the few charity shops that are around don't stock things like this.
I know you can get things at places like pound shop but they are useless, the knives I have bought have been so weak they barely cut anything and bent easy.
And even if LL provided a £3 pan I would use it and not ask for replacement.
Like I say I am not 18, I came from a flat that was unfurnished that I bought everything myself so I know poundshops sell certain things.0 -

I moved a long distance so no and thought it would be provided.0 -
Did you specifically ask about pots and pans or did you say 'kitchen stuff'
I've never known a student house have plates or pans.
Kitchen stuff to me is a kettle and microwave.0
