When you move in here you get a council tax bill within 2-3 days, this has a reference numberbaldly going on...0

Sounds like you spoke to a member of staff who didn't really understand what you were saying. Just explain that you have just moved in so you don't have a reference number. That reference number refers to your Council Tax account, not the address. Also get them to add you to the electoral register while you are on the phone to them, or ask them to send a form out to you.0

Hi, me and my partner have just moved house, it's our first time getting our own place and so far we are having difficulty setting up our council tax. This is because they require the council tax reference number for this property which we do not have. So far our local council has not responded to us but we want to get things set up asap. Any advice on how to sort this out at all please? Thanks

'Efficiency savings' mean there are less and less human beings to actually talk to you in a council...
It's called persistence. It's an older person's thing. Once upon a time, we actually used to go and queue in the town hall, believe it or not. Of course, this was back in the olden days, before far more important things like social media took over people's time.
And it's fewer and fewer, not less and less: Fewer is plural, less is singular.0 -
Having just finally sorted out a council tax mess from my last move 18 months ago, I shall be going down in person the day after my next move, queuing up and speaking to someone to make sure they properly update their records.
I'll also be asking for a final statement for my me (and my partner) at my old address and a shiny new bill for us in the new address!0
