Ugh - I still feel quite ropey this morning. Wonder why because I certainly slept last night. It is warm (but I have air conditioning). The only thing I can think is that my bed here is a lot softer than my bed at home. I have a few aches and pains and I think I slept funny on my wrists as they both feel a bit stiff. Never mind.
Got up early and have been for breakfast. Actually feel as though I could go back to sleep but obviously I have work in an hour. I've written my list so feel better about the things I need to do while I'm here - there's not loads so I should make the most of the free time and relax. There's a Sainsbury's across the road from the hotel so I suspect dinner will be from there tonight after last night's room service extravagance. I also need to find some tatty tourist shops so I can get the kids something...
That's it for now - see you later everyone :hello:

Having a brilliant time away CCL. If you haven't already, definitely have a facial while you're there. Treat yourself, you've more than earned it :D

    Morning all  :coffee:
Still quite tired but I am feeling a lot better today than I was yesterday. I pulled myself round as the day went on, but didn't do anything last night. Got back to my hotel at just after half six and basically watched tv and went to sleep. What an exciting life!
I looked into getting a facial Ena - but it was £100 an hour at the hotel. So I decided to look into something more appropriate and budget friendly for me and I ended up getting myself a ticket to go and see Wicked tonight :T I'm quite excited because I love shows and also because my ticket was quarter of the price of a facial. I've never seen it before and I'm looking forward to it. Just need to get work out of the way.
Bought souvenirs for the kids - dd wanted pens and ds wanted a fidget spinner so that wasn't a difficult find. So ticked all the London jobs off my to-do list and now just need to get on with enjoying the next couple of days and remembering I'm getting paid for it.
Also this morning I've had a reasonably healthy breakfast of fruit and yoghurt and scrambled egg on toast. I have no hope of dieting when the company I work for feed me so well - there's an endless supply of food and drink all day long - I didn't even need any dinner last night I was so full. :o
Right, I've got half an hour before I need to go to work so I'll catch up on here and then I think I'll set the August budget. It will be a biggie :p

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Hey Cat

I haven't read all your entries but see you in London for work? Hope you enjoy any free time you get, and remember how full on home life is sometimes so realise you need the quiet time!

We went into town for the first time in ages on the weekend as DS had to attend something. It was nice although we spent a fortune in less than half a day, just on needing a meal because it was that time, but all the McD were rammed so we ended up in Pret. Cost £20 for a round of sandwiches, bag of crisps each and a hot drink! Then DS wanted a souvenir and in my head it was going to be a few £ and it was £10. And that wasn't us going out for tea properly with a filling meal each either! Anyway I'm rambling but have a good stay and hope you enjoy London.

  • Oh my goodness - Wicked was AMAZING! I've had such a good night out and I'm so pleased that I decided to treat myself. It was fabulous...
Nice to see you back Bob - I'm half enjoying London this time round but I am looking forward to seeing my family again. Even though the 'rest' and quiet evenings have been a real revelation for me.
Last day of work tomorrow then home - best get on and get some sleep I reckon.
  • Glad you enjoyed yourself and let your hair down. Sounds like you needed it.
  • Hi everyone :hello:
Bit of a late check in from me. As I suspected, the past couple of days have been quite hectic and I've had almost zero spare time.
So I was up and out by 8am yesterday morning. Worked through solidly until 5pm, then commuted across London to catch the train home, which got me in after 9pm. Had a relaxing train journey home - watched a film on my phone and did a bit of crochet. However, the toilet on the train was broken so by the time I got home I had a stinking headache because I was tired and dehydrated and refused to drink because I didn't want to walk the length of 2 carriages to find/share a toilet with 200 other people...
I left all of my unpacking and went straight to bed while dh and the kids had a KFC. Thought I'd sleep it off, and I slept a long time but still had a stinking headache when I woke up this morning. Took me ages to pull myself round and I had to get straight on with marking work - this is the busiest day of this paper, and I've worked pretty solidly on it all day so it should be a bit more straightforward from tomorrow. But not the best of days to be plagued with a nagging headache...
Didn't take me too long to work out that there was not much food in the house and that not much housework had been done while I was away... Not surprising but still disappointing. I had to hit the supermarket fairly early on to make sure there was food in for the day. I also had to nap this afternoon to try and clear the headache, which still didn't work. Trying desperately to rehydrate myself and hoping for a good night's rest tonight. In between that and marking, I also had to hoover, unpack and get some washing on the go. I feel like it's been quite full on. Hoping tomorrow will be quieter.
    Nothing else to report...

    Hey  :coffee:
So, another busy-ish day today. I woke up at 5am, still with a headache, so I've had a determination to properly rehydrate myself today - I've made sure I'm having a cup of tea every hour (any excuse) and touch-wood I've only needed to resort to paracetamol once so far.
I've done a big chunk of work, ds and I have been to the hairdressers and I've ticked some more annoying jobs off the list. Picked up my prescription, posted a letter, popped my sister's keys back to her (ran into her dh in town so gave him them back while I saw him), went to the butchers. I have also contacted someone about cleaning. She's coming to the house later to have a look around and to see if she can help me. I'm naturally worried that this is going to be the dirtiest house that she's ever seen but I just can't bring myself to clean for a potential cleaner. She might as well see what it's really like here on a day to day basis (recycling stacking up, things gotten out and not put away etc) but I am worried about how she will judge me and my shabby little house. Ah well - I am at least a decent human being :D...

How posh am I? I now have a cleaner! :T She was a lovely lady and very reassuring about the house (even though it's disgusting). She starts on Monday and I confidently predict that it will be the best money I've ever spent. I hope anyway.
Other than that I'm still plodding on with exam marking. I have been very busy but I am almost half way through after just 2 days. So if I can get on at this pace I'll be done before I know it. Fingers firmly crossed eh?
The boys have gone out to watch Sunderland lose at football again. Safe to say ds is rather demotivated and not keen on going any more. Hopefully their performance will improve in the Championship and he'll rediscover his love of football.
  • Morning all :coffee:
I am tired this morning - didn't sleep so well last night. DH's behaviour is on the downward spiral again and I've been trying to help as always, but I just can't get on with the fact that he isn't keen on helping himself. I kind of lost it last night and told him that I can't go through it again. I get that he's ill, but he has to want to help himself as well. He will presume that means I don't care - I do, very much, but as always I have to try and protect me and the kids. Anyway, I never sleep well when I've 'been a b i t c h' so didn't sleep well last night. That means I'm not good in terms of rationality and decision making today so it will have to be a quiet one.
Off to see my mam today - I've double, triple checked that she's going to be there after last week's hilarity that cost me a fortune in a shopping trip :rotfl: Must try not to moan about dh - he can't help it. But equally, I can't help him either. Other than that I have to do a bit of tidying in preparation for my new cleaning lady coming tomorrow (by that I mean getting the kids to put stuff away and cleaning the cat stuff - not cleaning in preparation for the cleaner), do the basics of housework, stick to healthy eating, stay on top of exam marking and make time for crochet. It should be a good one as long as I don't let the hysteria of being tired get the better of me. I don't expect to see dh for most of the day - he was up most of the night and he has to go back to work tomorrow so I think he'll be in hibernation mode.
Right - think I'll have another cuppa and make a start.
