At our tip everything (except a small amount) is recycled but you do have to sort things yourself so you could either finish the whole house and bag up in material types ready for the tip or just clear and bag and then sort when you get there.

Weekdays are always quiet at our tip and they also a few late nights which is handy for people who cant get their in the day,

    Morning all :hello: :coffee:
Just dropped the car off at the garage for its annual service and came home via Mr A to get more cleaning stuff. DS bedroom is utter carnage so I've bought air freshener and shake n vac to see if I can do anything about the disgusting disgustingness in there.
Anyway, just had a knock on the door and a young lad asking if he can take anything metal out of the skip. This will free up room for more rubbish and also get him a profit when he goes to the scrappy. It's a win-win situation as far as I'm concerned because I fully intend to finish the kitchen and ds room today, then I can evaluate how much of mine and dh's bedroom rubbish I can clear into there... Happy days :D Now I just need to cross fingers that the car flies through its service without too much extra cost.
So I'm just having my first proper coffee of the day and then I'm going to start on bagging up more rubbish. Aim of the day is to have the skip refilled and the house decluttered and just in need of a massive deep clean. I still am not sure what my mother will say when she sees it though. Strangely still no word from my mother yet - I can only assume she's on holiday somewhere. So is my sister so they're not really in contact to check at the moment. Ah well. How sad is my life that I've gotten so much into decluttering? :rotfl: Don't think for a second though that I'm ever going to be a neat and tidy person. I'm just not.

    Day 2 of decluttering done.
DS bedroom is completely transformed, although the shake n vac and the air freshener has its work cut out because it still stinks in there. His new bed is up and made and I can sleep in my own bed tonight.
All of the kitchen cupboards are decluttered and it's just in desperate need of a good clean now, and I made a tiny bit more progress on mine and dh bedroom. I really think I can get this done tomorrow.
Not such great news with the car - it needs new tyres, tracking and brakes. Ugh. I can't imagine that being anywhere near cheap but it has to be done. I've managed to hang onto the courtesy car though and they're going to sort mine out tomorrow. Ah well.

Sounds like good progress on Operation Tidy Up. You'll feel much better once it's all done.

    Evening :hello:
Operation declutter is complete. The skip is full and I've rang for them to come and get it when they can be bothered. OK, the house is completely filthy but I can at least get in and start cleaning it, or finally get round to getting a cleaner sorted out. I can't believe we have a whole skip full of rubbish out there and that it came from our house somewhere... I spent 4 hours today doing mine and dh room so now the entire house has been decluttered, I have way more wool than I thought though - I really need to get on and start using some of it up. :D The loft is already filling up again, with boxes and boxes of wool :o:o
Also popped out and picked the car up - another £320. I'm kind of pleased that I'd already booked our mini hot tub break because if I'd had the car bill first I wouldn't have booked anything. And safe and roadworthy as well so that's worth it I suppose.
I went to BM as well, bought a couple of new kitchen bits (not to clutter up, a draining rack and towels) and a new blind for ds room, which I've also put up. Think that I can finally think about getting on and enjoying holidays, a clutter free house, crochet and catching up with my friends. To celebrate I've done slow cooked pork, which I'm just about to enjoy for my dinner... :p

    Morning all :hello:
I have kind of had a massive lie in this morning. Kind of. One of the cats woke me up at quarter past seven pawing my face and wanting food, so I got up and had a cuppa and fed the cats. A man arrived to collect the skip at quarter to eight! so that's gone and done now. Then I sat down on the sofa to watch a bit of telly and next thing I know it's after 10am. So I must have needed the rest.
Today I have a friend and her kids visiting so I'm looking forward to that. It will make a change from 3 days of clearing and tidying. I've also made a list of small and annoying jobs that I have been going to do for weeks and still haven't gotten round to. More money spending as car tax and insurance is due and house insurance is also due. I seem to have been leaking cash this week and am approaching skint. Thankfully it's payday on Monday and I'm off to London again for exam stuff so I'm still going to manage to earn a bit more. I've just had to order full birth certificates to get the kids passports sorted out - another £20. I didn't ever have a full certificate for the pair of them - not sure why/why not... See what I mean about spending money all of the time???

    Hey :hello:
I have still been a very busy bunny - but am just approaching my very relaxing afternoon now. Can't wait. The boys have gone to watch some football match in Sunderland, dd is putting her face on ready to go out and I've done all of my fiddly and annoying jobs. I just need to quickly confess that I still haven't done any proper cleaning since the declutter - we have loads of surfaces needing to be wiped... However, I have kept on top of hoovering, washing dishes and the washing. I've done 2 loads and line dried already today as it's quite windy outside. I might get round to wiping some surfaces soon. That should take less than 10 minutes as it's pretty clear about the house.
Yesterday was busy from beginning to end catching up with my friend. It was brilliant and I really enjoyed it, but I got absolutely nothing else done. We had a long leisurely pub lunch and lots of chat. Early ish night last night and a bit of a lie in again this morning. Got up and went out for coffee with bestie which was nice as we've not caught up for a couple of weeks. Then came home and started on the list of doom. I've sorted car tax, car insurance, house insurance, printed off my travel docs for tomorrow, found my missing bag, gone through all of my paperwork and put a bag of rubbish out. It feels good getting all of those annoying jobs out of the way. The only thing I can't find is a book that I had started reading but not finished. I suspect it may have gone in the skip, which is a bit of a pain...:o
This afternoon is a bit of a relax afternoon. Crochet and telly. I think what I'll do is that every time I get up I'll wipe down one surface that needs doing - then it gets done while I feel I'm still relaxing.

    Afternoon everyone :hello:
I confess to being a bit slow to start today. I somehow drank a whole bottle of prosecco last night so this morning was definitely a bit of a struggle and I didn't want to get up. Dragged myself out of bed just after 10 :o and sat and made a list of stuff to do. Then I watched telly and thought about my list of stuff to do :o
But once I got going I was ok... I've done minimal housework to keep on top of things, packed ready to go to London, made salad for lunches and found time for a bit of crochet.
Off to London in an hour or so for the last bit of exam marking for the summer. It's been a long season this one - but worth it because I've had the money to do some extra stuff like the skip, car maintenance etc. And I should get some more money in from this one as well :D
Got my case out of the cupboard to pack and found my missing book in there :T I must have put it in last time I went and not bothered getting it back out as I was so busy with marking. I've left it in there with the intention of finishing it off at some point while I'm away. I'm working all day but my usual marking partner in crime is on holiday so evenings are my own. I've packed reading and crochet but am also toying with the idea of having a facial at the hotel. Or maybe even visiting the London Dungeon on my own (my meeting is near there so was thinking I could go one evening after work). I know it's a bit sad going on my own but ds was terrified when we went last year and we had to swap our tickets for the London Eye  which bored me senseless. So if I go on my own - no problem. I'll see. My little naggy hangover is just telling me I might want to sleep. And I'm away until Wednesday so an extra day as well. I'm looking forward to it but I know I'll miss the kids like mad by the end of it. Rather typical of me - they drive me nuts but I don't like being too far away from them.
Right - time to get on. I'll check in later.

Enjoy London CCL I would definitely do something that you would enjoy even if it was on your own, what about one of the free museums on the south bank? The banqueting room on Whitehall is lovely, very peaceful (not free though)

Glad you found your book. Did you find your mum :rotfl: she was awol wasn't she?

    Evening all :hello:
I've arrived safe and sound in London, to a smaller but much nicer hotel room than I had when I was here before for a couple of days. It has air conditioning and you can just text anything to your 'virtual assistant'. I even have a mini bar in my room - not that I want to even consider that tonight mind you :silenced:_pale_
I think you're right PF - I should make the most of my time here while I have it. I'm staying close to Warren Street and there are lots of shops nearby. Plus I'm on the South Bank all day with work for the next 3 days. Plan of action for tonight though is dinner (I've ordered room service :D), shower and an early night. I'll make further, proper plans tomorrow.
I did find my mam, yes. She is around and about - just hadn't bothered to check her phone for days on end. :rotfl:
Free pad of paper here. I will start a new list of things to do once I've slept :D
