Doing a happy dance here! I don't need anything else to get us into the September budget - which is just as well, having missed my August target quite mightily - but we've discovered that DD1 gets a very good staff discount at the local restaurant/bakery she works for, so we can get lovely "artisan" bread for an entirely reasonable price! I do make my own some of the time, and it's not bad, but I don't always have the time or organisation & at the end of the day it's not (yet) as good as theirs.

Another trip to the big city is planned on Wednesday, which is also payday & therefore in September budget-wise, whatever the calendar says. So there'll be another raid on the Oriental Grocers - hopefully they'll have more of what we need this time!

Finished August and declaring spend of £187.35. As it was a 5 week month for me and OH for every meal at home.' and we also had visitors for a long weekend I am happy with that. Not as low as some peoples spends but I am happy if it stays at that level each month. I have declared £250 again for September in case its a blip but will take the average over a few months until I can see the proper spending pattern.
All that clutter used to be money
  • Total fail in August, overspent on everything...

OK, will do the accounting and back on track as of today with new budget for September : )

    Hi all,

Well, that's me done for August. I've lost track of the exact total, but I do know at I am within budget for the first time in ages! It's been a decent month and I have done some good work on running down the freezer, so I want to continue with that.

I hope everything is going well for you this month!

Well I've made it to the end of the month and I'm quite pleased with how me and OH have done even though went over slightly. My budget was £300 for the month and included groceries, toiletries and pet supplies. In total we've spent £308.86. This was our first try and we weren't sure how much to set our budget at as we've never kept track before on what we were spending on the groceries etc. I plan to reduce the budget slightly for next month.

Don't beat yourself up too much and please don't use the F word - you are on a learning curve and it takes time to get into the habits of budgeting. Just take forward where you could maybe trim things a bit and use that information to help with September :D

Well done all those coming in under or close to their targets :T

Another NSD today and I am quite chuffed that I have managed 20 NSDs this month :j

Hold on to those purse strings for the last couple of days

Yay. £284.23 for August. But way over for year to date. Don't think I'll catch up. Unless of course I get more work - I picked up 3 days starting tomorrow:T:T:T:T

It's 50 miles each way and a rush job so I don't think I'll be doing any shopping. Thank goodness for meal planning a nd a full freezer. I picked up milk and salad today. That should be fine until the weekend.

Hope this is the beginning of some regular work. Pretty pretty please. See you on Septembers thread.:D
