Cheaper Flights

I am going to New York for Christmas, then we fly to Canada for the New Year. We found it saved us a great deal of money by flying from Southampton to Amsterdam, then Amsterdam to New York.
As Southampton is very near to where we live that is brilliant for us. I thought that a direct flight from either Heathrow or Gatwick would have been cheaper, but I was wrong. Only problem is returning home from Canada. We have to fly back to USA, change, fly to Amsterdam, change, then finally back to Southampton. Arriving in the early hours. We used Netflights to book, and I can highly recommend them. I used Hotel.com for booking hotels, love their deal, that once you book 10 nights you get a free one!

Using flights from AMS is pretty common knowledge.

The issue comes if your outbound flight to AMS is delayed and you miss your flight to the states assuming you arent using the same airline for all legs of your trip
Live each day like its your last because one day you'll be right
