But that doesn't stop them arriving and given they're official letters someone had obviously given my address in when claiming benefits and to their employer and to the customs department. That's the bit I'm worried about.
Your right it doesn't stop them happening, but its no effort to stick them in a bag ready for burning, I have had NIPs, Degree certificates, car insurance certificates, DVLA/HMRC letters for the previous owners who are either too stupid or lazy to change their address.
Zero comeback and nothing to worry about get it binned/burnt.0 -

He's not a previous owner and it's not a one off. I'm getting several letters a week so some random has obviously given my address in to his boss, HMRC and DWP as his own address.
I've checked and there's no similar streets with similar postcodes etc.
I'm actually really annoyed that someone can give my address in to the DWP and their boss and there's nothing I can do about it.Sigless0 -

Not supprised your annoyed.
Appaling that DWP or HMRC wont investigate as fraud must be going on somewhere or why the false details.
I'd be having a word with the police now and see what they can do.
Edit.
Did a payslip throw up a company name, i'm sure they'd be facinated to hear an employee giving false details.,Fully paid up member of the ignore button club.If it walks like a Duck, quacks like a Duck, it's a Duck.0 -

Thanks. I had emailed them earlier. Just wait and see what they say now.
I still can't believe neither the DWP or HMRC are bothered that someone has given false information.Sigless0 -
If one of my clients at work move and not tell us, it creates problems.
I get letters back saying addressee gone away etc, but we are not allowed to change any details on their account like remove the address as we need the account holder to pass data protection for us to access the account and make changes.
It's frustraiting as if the client has moved the person now in the address will get post from us and we don't stop posting. I will use every contact for the client, email, telephone to try and get hold of them.
It's taken people ringing up and saying 'I have a Complaint' to trigger a reaction. Our calls are recorded and if the C word is used then we take action *just.
It frustrates me, one letter returned had building burnt down written on the envelope and still I was not allowed to change anything.
So I can see why DWP etc will not change do anything, it's because they can't.0 -
I had this problem with HMRC paperwork addressed to someone else arriving at my home. It went on for years before we discovered that during the collation of HMRC regional databases, my tax file had been merged with someone else's. The lady had the same birthdate as myself and her initials were the same as my first three initials. Apparently that was all it took for them to think us the same person, even though our NI numbers were different and she had two children.Good, clean fun....MFW #11 2015 £7657 / £88800

I don't think it's a mistake tbh. I think someone has decided to use my address.
They can't have confused them for me in any way, for starters it's a male and I'm female. Our initials aren't the same and our names are nowhere near alike, their surname is Miloshevshka mine is Jones (those aren't the actual surnames just an example showing how different they are).
So there's no way someone has accidentally mistaken me for this man.Sigless0 -

I just don't understand how someone is allowed to give my address in to their boss, the DWP and HMRC (and god knows who else) and because of their data protection there is nothing I can do about it.
What about protecting my data? Surely I should have some rights too.Sigless0
