A pound stretching maternity

My mum has today transferred over £36 to pay for ds's school shoes. She had said she wanted to pay for them.
Tomorrow will be our last payment to ds's nursery. He has been there for almost 2 1/2 years, and he finishes this week. I'm sad that he is finishing as he has completely loved it there and it means that he's growing up, but I won't miss the paying every Monday! I need to read the contract we signed when he started as I'm pretty sure there will be a deposit coming back to us. I'm thinking £25, but could be wrong.Starting a new debt free journeyStarting Debt: £5,250Current Debt: £4,995.50Amount Paid: £254.50 Percentage Paid: 4.84%Emergency Fund: £3500 -
The last £78 has gone out to ds's nursery. I definitely won't miss that meaning every week. Sad it is his last week, though. I checked the deposit, and it was £25 so we should get that back at the end of the week. That will go into the baby/maternity fund.
I need to pick up more antibiotics for ds today, as they didn't have enough on Thursday for the whole course. I will do that first thing, and the phone to book my whooping cough jab. My consultant appointment is at lunchtime, so will need an early lunch. I will have to pay for the parking at the hospital (and get there in plenty of time so that I find a parking space!).
I do need to get a thank you card and some sort of basket for ds's nursery gift this week so may sort that this morning.Starting a new debt free journeyStarting Debt: £5,250Current Debt: £4,995.50Amount Paid: £254.50 Percentage Paid: 4.84%Emergency Fund: £3500 -
Good luck at the hospital, hope it goes well.0

Thank you
Everything went well. I'm having an extra scan in 6 weeks time and was found that I was given the incorrect information at my 16 week appointment with regards to appointments. Due to that I almost didn't have a 28 week appointment, but managed to get it sorted today. I thought the next couple of months were going to be quiet with regards to maternity appointments, but that's all changed.
I booked my whooping cough jab today, so will be having that on Friday whilst ds is at nursery. I've then got 2 quiet weeks, followed by 3 different appointments over the following 4 weeks.
I popped to Tesco after the appointment and managed to spend almost £20!! I did manage to get a card from there for ds nursery as well as some nice biscuits to go in their hamper. Oh, and I bought a pack of humongous knickers (sorry tmi!!) for my hospital bag. Half the money was spent there, the other half on junk.
I picked up the rest of ds's medicine. I didn't get a basket, because the one I stopped to look at was identical to one I have here that's empty. I may as well just use that.
Right, I'd better head to collect ds from nursery.Starting a new debt free journeyStarting Debt: £5,250Current Debt: £4,995.50Amount Paid: £254.50 Percentage Paid: 4.84%Emergency Fund: £3500 -

Back on the 16th of this month I worked out how much we spent on average in the Tesco credit card each month. It was far too much, but I said it was going to be less this month before a major cutback next month. Well 4 days before my next statement is due we have spent £100 over the average  That's not good. I mean the money is there waiting to pay it off, but still we shouldn't be spending this amount.
Today's spends were £17.58 in Tesco. That's all been added to YNAB and the money has been transferred already. It means I have now 0p left in the food fund to last until Thursday. The positive is that the cupboards and freezers are full. We have plenty of fruit and veg as well as milk.
This week includes some spendy days, unfortunately. I'll update as the week goes on, but no more co-op or Tesco visits until payday!
I ordered an item online 2 weeks ago which cost £22. I still haven't received the item and it still shows as processing on their website. I've tried sending them a message but haven't had any response. I, thankfully, paid through PayPal so have opened a dispute with them this evening to see what will happen next. Part of me just wants the money back now to go into the baby/maternity savings. I read some trustpilot reviews earlier, and a lot seem to have the same issue.Starting a new debt free journeyStarting Debt: £5,250Current Debt: £4,995.50Amount Paid: £254.50 Percentage Paid: 4.84%Emergency Fund: £3500 -
Good morning!
Today is a quiet day as ds is with my mother. I'm meeting friends for afternoon tea this afternoon. The afternoon tea costs £10 and I'll spend money on a drink (I don't drink tea so end up buying a soft drink). It's going to be lovely to have a catch up so will definitely be worth the £10.
I'm not planning any other spends today.
I need to check YNAB and my bank accounts/credit card this morning. They should be pretty much up to date. 2 more days until payday, which means tomorrow I'll be able to check the amount under pending transactions to make sure it's correct. Yay!!
I need to cancel the standing order to ds's nursery today.Starting a new debt free journeyStarting Debt: £5,250Current Debt: £4,995.50Amount Paid: £254.50 Percentage Paid: 4.84%Emergency Fund: £3500 -
I need someone to come and give me a major kick up the backside! It's lunchtime and this morning all I've done is catch up on Eat Well For Less, made a BBQ sauce (from scratch - go me!) to go with our wraps tonight (it's an experimental dish!) and check the banking, etc.
I'm using the excuse that I'm relaxing before going back to work in a week and a half. But...........I'm only going back one day a week most weeks (other than a little overtime!). I'm also using the excuse that ds isn't here, but surely that's an ideal time to catch up on things.
I was invited out for a coffee this morning, and I turned it down. It just worries me because I've gone through times of feeling low in the past, and I end up locking myself away and not going out. I lose motivation to do things and let the world pass by. If things carry on like this, I can see me slipping again. It's been about 5 years since I last felt really low, and am determined to snap out of it before it happens again. I have my son and this little baby on the way to think about.
Going out isn't a chore. Sitting in browsing the Internet and watching tv all day is no life. Yes, I'm on holiday from work, but sitting in all day is not fullfilling. This afternoon I'm going to the afternoon tea, and I won't be watching the clock counting down the minutes until I get home. Tomorrow and Thursday I will be out for the day with ds. Friday I'm home alone as ds is at nursery. I will give myself a proper list of jobs to do. I should go out for a walk as well, but don't want to push things too far!!Starting a new debt free journeyStarting Debt: £5,250Current Debt: £4,995.50Amount Paid: £254.50 Percentage Paid: 4.84%Emergency Fund: £3500 -
MrsSave, I do exactly the same when I am on leave. I'm back next week and all I was planning on doing this week was sitting on the couch looking at things I can't afford to buy! I'm meeting with friend on Thursday for a coffee and I almost turned it down due to the fact I'm broke, but I've not seen her in over a year so decided to make the effort!!
So far today I have cleaned a quarter of the kitchen and inventoried two cupboards, but now you have mentioned that Eat Well for Less is on catch up I can't envisage much else being done by me today! haha

I'm pleased that I'm not the only one. The less I do, the less motivation I have to do things though!!Starting a new debt free journeyStarting Debt: £5,250Current Debt: £4,995.50Amount Paid: £254.50 Percentage Paid: 4.84%Emergency Fund: £3500
