Been reading your diary over the past week and just wanted to say hi!

Wish I was as organised as you with Christmas presents, I've brought a few things but really need to make a proper start.

Hope your wine makes an appearance tomorrow :)

    :hello:

I hope I haven't bored you too much!! My mum also ordered wine and it arrived today so fingers crossed for tomorrow.

It's a bit silly getting to excited over wine when I can't even drink! :rotfl:

All of today's jobs have been done except one......make dinner from stores. We ended up eating out (ooooops). After spending the afternoon prepping dump bags I'd had enough of being in the kitchen so we went out. There was a Chinese I'd wanted to try locally (it's so difficult to find a decent Chinese around here). The food was delicious, and only cost us £38 for 2 courses. There was a delay with the the food (which we were told about right at the beginning) so they didn't charge us for any drinks. We didn't ask for anything off, it was a lovely surprise when we went to pay.

All 10 dump meals have been prepped. Each one should last 2 nights, so it's the equivalent of 20 nights of dinner sorted. I did need to pop to the co-op for lemon juice, and did happen to buy caffeine free Diet Coke at the same time. £2.65 spent there. One of the meals is in the fridge and will be cooking that in the slow cooker tomorrow. Lemon and garlic chicken. Sounds nice, hope it tastes good.

Food delivery came and it cost £41.99. If these meals do last 20 nights, then I'm very impressed with how much it has cost. I used my 350 extra points voucher on the shop. Had a lovely delivery driver, as well, who insisted on holding the crates up for me to empty instead of me bending down. Very impressed.

Not so impressed though with furniture delivery for the baby's room. I ordered at the beginning of July. I've had a text today to say the delivery date has been changed. Again. This is the third delivery date since ordering. Baby will be leaving home heading off to uni before the wardrobe arrives.

Right, I'm shattered tonight and already in bed. Going to read a few pages of my book. 'Second Life' by S.J.Watson. I've been reading it for 3-4 weeks already and am now around 2/3 of the way through. I'm really enjoying it, but only seem to sit and read when waiting for appointments and during ds's swimming lesson! He has another lesson tomorrow so will manage a few more pages then.

Actually managed a couple of pages before falling asleep! Add to that I only woke 10 minutes ago everything sounds good! Except for the fact that I was up 3 times in the night for various reasons - drink, toilet and the horrid pregnancy leg cramp. Ouch! Ds is still asleep after his late night, and the house is quiet so I'm guessing Dh has gone to work!

Wine is out for delivery :j

    Today's plans -
    • Take ds swimming, done
    • Collect grandmother in law's Christmas gift from M&S,done
    • Pick up some more swim nappies for ds (they're on offer in Boots. I'm not sure how long to keep him in them for......he's been toilet trained since Easter but we still have the odd accident every now and again and I'm so paranoid about him having an accident in the pool!),done
    • Laundry,done
    • Dinner in slow cooker,done
    • Paint by number with ds that I've been promising for ever, done
    • Check YNAB,done
    • Check Tesco credit card and bank accounts.done

Sounds like you are doing great with Christmas presents. I have an app on my phone with a code ( so my teenager can't access it) I log what I have bought for everyone and costings on there.

No not at all. I've just returned back to work from maternity leave so understand the need to save & budget, unfortunately I'm not very good at it hence starting a diary again for the 3rd time :rotfl:

That sounds like a good app. What's it called? I've put a folder together for Christmas and birthdays but it might not be ideal once ds is a little older!

I'll have a look for your diary. Don't worry, this isn't my first diary here either! I think a lot of people have ups and downs along the way.

What a day! Ds has been a complete monkey all day. He's broken toys and just generally not listened. He's usually really good (the usual toddler behaviour, but generally well behaved) so today has been draining. I'm thinking it was the late night last night (even though he slept in this morning).

We ticked everything off our list. Dinner was garlic and lemon chicken with potatoes and veg, and was tasty. There are a couple of chicken breasts left over so I think I'll shred them into some pasta or something tomorrow evening.

We picked up the gift for Granny in law and then went to get the swim nappies. I ended up buying the boots own brand ones as they were on offer down to £2. I did also take ds for a drink and we shared a slice of cake in a cafe after swimming (it wouldn't have happened if his swimming was later in the day and he'd already been a little monkey!). I haven't updated the spends on YNAB yet (£3.95 for the drink and cake, £2 for the nappies) so must get around to that tomorrow morning.

The best bit of today, though, was...........

I have 12 bottles of wine!

Ok, so I can't drink any for at least another 3 months, but that's Christmas sorted! Oh, and I've been accepted for the M&S card which gives the £25 voucher to spend on food/drink. Will make sure I buy one thing on it, pay it off and then get rid of the card.

A lot of teachers are back in work tomorrow. It's so nice working part time and knowing I've got a few more days off to go! I'm sure I won't be feeling quite as positive Sunday night, though!!

Thursday........I hope ds wakes up in a better mood today! We're swimming again this morning. Afterwards we'll do the weekly food shop (I know, I've had a delivery this week, but only food for the dump meals was included). Budget of £35 again, but hope to come under.

My blender broke the other day, and they had some mini ones on clearance in wilko, so will pop in to pick one up later. I'm lost without my blender!

Also, I'm tempted to buy a clothes line. I keep using the excuse of hayfever for drying indoor/tumble dryer, but hayfever season has ended for me so surely it'll save a few pennies to dry outside, even if I finish off towels in the tumble. I need to work out cost per load in the tumble dryer, that may help me to see sense!
    • Take ds swimming, done
    • Grocery shop under £35,done
    • Mini blender from Wilko, Sold out
    • Work out cost per load in the tumble dryer, done
    • Lunch and dinner from stores, done
    • Library trip with ds this afternoon, done
    • Check YNAB,done
    • Update yesterday's YNAB spends and add today's,done
    • Check Tesco credit card and bank accounts, done
    • Start looking at my planning for work next week. I did the majority of it before the end of last term (a lot easier when you're part time!!). Need to read through to see that I'm organised and have everything ready for Monday.done
