Difference of new bathroom to valuation

I really dislike those seashell bathroom suites. The rest of the property would really need to tick all my boxes before I'd buy somewhere with one of those bathroom suites as I would also want to rip it out.
Are they still selling those? The one I've just ripped out was put in in the eighties and I thought it was delightfully retro!0 -
The problem with things like bathrooms is that your taste may not suit everyone else so some people might like the house but hate the bathroom in which case it isn't worth anymore to them than the old one was.0

I bought a house with a needs-getting-around-to bathroom, and sold it, undisturbed, a decade later. Unless there is something not working, or just because you want a change, let it be.
Best of luck!0 -
If it had a pink or turquoise one from the '70s/'80s, I'd rather it stay! Could make my bathroom quite funky around those. Hate it when sellers 'develop' one room. Saw a nice house the other day online in Leigh-on-Sea (http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-58161095.html) and they'd refurbed the kitchen and bathroom, but the kitchen was red with tiles I hate ('public toilet tiles' that everyone but me seems to love), and a shower instead of a bath. Great. So both would need undoing before starting again (and wasting their money and mine). Should've left well alone.
Anyway, sorry OP, it's prob not really relevant. Is this for yours to sell, or is it one you've found to view?
(Hope all's going okay still, btw!)

Thank you all for your input. It isn't my bathroom - mine are being left as they are. I really appreciate all advice on here, it's really useful.0

Relative of ours has just bought a bungalow, the vendors had a new bathroom and kitchen in the last twelve months, the bathroom is now a shower room which she is ripping out because she wants a bath, and she also says that the kitchen worktop and cupboard doors will have to go.0

Yuck lol. They were mentioned before on a thread - CathA said "I think brick effect tiles (or toilet tiles as we call them! ) will be the "avocado bathroom" problem in later years!"
Inclined to agree(I've been calling them public toilet tiles forever). My mum has just had them put all round her new kitchen!

A new bathroom helps a house hold it's value.
So, no increase particularly.
That makes no sense. You're saying it's worth less with the old bathroom, but no more with a new one??
Unless you do something silly, a new bathroom should add to the value. Whether it's a much as you've spent is unlikely, but possible. Very occasionally you can add a lot more.0
