Are our Vendors messing us about?

Hello, need some desperate help!
I posted 5 weeks ago about a house we put an offer on where the vendors are yet to find a house and are very picky.
Well fast forward 5 weeks and we are still no closer. Vendors have been on two holidays in those 5 weeks and never told us or the EA they were going. As far as we know they've seen 1 house in 5 weeks. The EA promise to update us but we never get returned calls when we ring for updates. The vendors are not willing to rent.
I'm at a breaking point. We are first time buyers and are in a position to move asap. The vendors don't seem serious at all.
We are going to start seeing other houses but we love this house and didn't know if anyone has got any advice/ tips on trying to get things moving?? Feel like I could cry. Already had to pull out of one house previous to this
Thanks

Not much you can do - how much money have you spent so far on the proposed purchase of this property?"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

Nothing at all because there is no chain yet. Already lost £1000 from our previous sale (we were 10 weeks into that purchase)
Our mortgage offer runs out at the end of October so wanting to get it sorted before then.
Just feel like the sellers don't actually want to sell . Feel like no one is taking us seriously0 -
Early days, but it's not a great start. I'd be looking elsewhere, if it was me.0

There isn't much on the market at the moment. I'll be in your vendors position soon and fretting, but if there's nothing to buy, there's nothing to buy. I'm a vendor who's unwilling to rent as well.
If you're in that much of a rush, pull out,0 -

I'm happy to wait I just feel like we are being messed around. We are never updated about anything.
There are quite a few house in the market in our area so it's not a struggle. We were seeing 5 houses a week so to be told they have seen 1 house in 5 weeks seem unacceptable to me. Especially since they said they were keen to be sorted.
My question is, how long is acceptable to wait?0 -
I think you are being unreasonable. I know you are eager to get on but you want updates on their lives and they're supposed to update you when they go away!!! You are welcome to continue viewing properties but not track the movement of your vendors. It might take them a few months to find something, especially in a slow market like we are having now. How long did it take you to find a property?
If they find something then great, if you find somewhere else then pull out.Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0 -
I would suggest that you look at other properties as well then if you find something that is at least as nice you can pull out if you want to.0

If they are "very picky", perhaps there aren't many properties available that fit their criteria?
Last three times we've moved we were looking for a very specific type of house, of which there were not many about - despite searching over several counties - and in fact I think we only viewed between two and five houses in total each time.
That said, we didn't keep our buyers waiting more than a couple of weeks, mainly because we'd begun the search before our house went under offer
Like goodwithsaving and your vendor, we weren't prepared to go into rented either as we have several pets and [STRIKE]too much[/STRIKE] lots of stuff!
I think you need to keep looking and assume you may not be buying that particular house.......Mortgage-free for fourteen years!
