Tracking FedEx from China? (ebay)

Against my better judgement i have ordered something quite expensive from China (eek).
Nothing obvious to make the transaction appear doomed, just me being overly cautious. With a few wrong items recently thats not surprising.
Seller has uploaded the FedEx tracking and i received a previous one within 5 days so thought to check and it doesnt work. Links to an ebay page saying page not found?
Would be nice to have a clue when it may arrive. If i had not received the last item so quickly i would not have even bothered to look yet.
Its just a 12 number code. Is it an ebay thing?
Thanks

I'm no expert on FedEx (I'm sure others will be), but did you try tracking but Number and reference using the FedEx China front-end?

I think Fedex tracking numbers are usually 12 digits long. The tracking number is generated by the shipper ordering a collection before the item is picked up.
With some companies tracking only starts appearing once the parcel has been scanned on collection or at the local depot. If you've only just received the number you may find tracking starts going online in a few hours time.0 -
China are a few hours ahead of us so yep they uploaded the number some time this morning, I only clicked the tracking link on ebay and it was a page nto found error.
Probably leave it until Tuesday next week to check, should be close by then.

Our FedEx Tracking numbers look like; 773860000000
& can be tracked on; https://www.fedex.com/apps/fedextrack/0 -
Yeah 12 digit 66 number for mine.
I was just about to type the number into your link when i thought, try clicking the ebay one again and it works.
Ebay link shows the tracking so it was just too soon. Says package was received after the deadline, so it may not get here on Tuesday.
Last time the package arrived way sooner than expected so i didnt even look at the listing to see a tracking number. Curious as to what they put as the value.
£240, tooling/electronics. What will i get stung on that?
Hoping it all goes well and its a good item, already had an email saying they are selling at a low profit. Probably why they declined my £25 offer and countered with £2
Edit: $75 declared. Is that their true value or are they at a loss if it goes missing?
Thanks.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
They will use the declared value unless customs are suspicious that it is underdeclared or there is an invoice visible and a discrepancy between the figures. Ultimately you as the importer are supposed to be responsible for paying the correct fees.
You will have to pay 20% VAT on the value of the shipment and on the carriage cost. There will probably be a duty payment but this is often just a few percent and is dependent on the item. You can look it up here
https://www.gov.uk/finding-commodity-codes
There will also be a clearance fee of probably around £15.
Fedex often invoice after delivery, so don't think you've got away with it if the parcel just arrives. Fedex always invoices in my experience.0 -
Mixed feedback on FedEx charging customs before/after Soolin said always first, but others have said they received bills later.
Is the clearance fee only if its over the customs limit?
Is there a limit where its just over they wont charge?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Looking at various measuring equipment and the duty = 0% ?
But VAT = 20%.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I'm not sure whether Fedex charge a clearance fee if it is of very low value. In your case even $75 which they have declared at is well over the UK £15 limit so there will be a fee.
If you're sure the duty is 0% it may be worth contacting Fedex with the commodity code. I find that sometimes carriers use fairly random codes which can incur different rates of duty.0 -
I dont mind a £15 fee on this one, its a large saving over the UK price anyway, so £15 + VAT + Duty would not have put me off ordering it.
Tracking shows Lantau Island, never heard of it so googled it. Looks lovely from the pictures. Not so good are threads where people have moaned because their parcel has spent upto 2 weeks there.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
