HI there
I had a very minor accident and that is my car hit a parked car...there is no one in the car...at the time the owner was walking near the car...due to the accident there is a very minor crack to his front bumper...and there is no damage to.my car..actually I was slowing down my car to take right turn in the road but unfortunately my car hit his front bumper...I didn't do any claim to my insurer as there was no damage to my car.....he claimed in his insurance XS Direct ..they sent me a claim bill £2300 .....I am bit stupid because I had excess of £3000 in my policy
i don't know what to do as I had to make the settlement in 14 days
Could you please provide any advice guys?
Thank you

Your only option is to negotiate a payment plan with them0

Pass the correspondence on to your insurer (you won't have to pay your excess - this is only payable should you want to claim for damage to your own car)0
-
This is their insurer.
They have a £3k all sections excess.0 -
why would anyone who doesn't always have access to £2300 agree an excess that high?
if you don't pay it they will go after your insurers and they will pay it and come after you.0 -
They are the OP's insurers.0

Think punctuation is missing maybe. He says he has a £3k excess. XS direct are the company that have a 3k excess.0
-
Sounds like XS Direct is the TP, paid out their clients costs and then sending the bill direct to the TP as his insurers won't cover it considering it's under his 3k excess.
Either way, I don't want to judge but you really shouldn't be taking an excess of £3k unless you can easily afford it.
Only reasonable suggestion that others have already mentioned is to try and agree a payment plan with them.
And change your insurance policy to one with a lower excess ASAP before it happens again!0 -
That wouldn't make sense, as with the vast majority of insurers the excess only applies to the own damage sections of the policy. So the Third Party claim would be paid in full by his insurers, and the OP would only have to pay his excess if he wants his own car repairing.Sounds like XS Direct is the TP, paid out their clients costs and then sending the bill direct to the TP as his insurers won't cover it considering it's under his 3k excess.
XS Direct are one of the few exceptions who do apply the excess to the third party claims.
So it's crucial to know who the OP's insurance company is. If he has a proper insurer he should just pass the claim on to them to deal with - he will not have to put his hand in his own pocket. However is XS Direct is his own insurer he's probably stuffed,0 -
Aretnap, very true, I think I got my wires crossed.
Now that I've looked at it again, you're right, the OP just needs to contact their insurance company to settle the amount to the TP insurer.
If the TP hasn't received settlement within a certain timeframe, it is common that they will write to the driver directly for payment, as wrong as it may seem, but they may just be delaying payment whilst they investigate the amount being claimed. Again, this can just be put to bed by a call to the OP's insurer.0
