Wednesday 13th July - what small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important! :money:

Hi everyone
Thanks for starting us off Ally - good luck at work. I can imagine how busy it will be for you today if my MIL is anything to go by - she bought your place out of house and home in the sale. Makes me shudder thinking about the amount she has bought!
I am working from home today. :T I am so ahead with my latest job that I could actually do nothing today and no one would know. So tempting but I am a professional so I will just power through...but maybe have a wee break here and there:rotfl:
Oh, DNMS, about your keyboard - could it be crumbs under the keys/pad? I have one of those 'air dusters' and they are great. http://goo.gl/ety2Bc
Got a text from the 'tax office' with a link to 'confirm my details'...Shame it's a scam because £351.04 would've come in handy! https://goo.gl/fipXPG
Filled up our posh soap dispenser with cheapo stuff as always. Only difference is this time OH saw me and was amused that you could use 'shower gel' as a handwash and curious about why I didn't buy the proper stuff. Ha ha, makes me laugh :rotfl:
Spoke to OH about having 'stir fry week' - thinking about how cheap, healthy, versatile and quick it all is - great for the busy weeks. I bought tinned stir fry veg this week - perfect as I find the fresh stuff goes off within a day or two.
Have been getting a bit panicky about the amount of debt that will be coming my way soon - I got my car on a PCP deal 3 years ago and I am thinking about keeping it so paying the 'balloon' payment at the end of the year (£4k), rather than getting a new one and keeping my monthly payment the same IYSWIM. I also really want to sell the flat after this tenant moves out (October) so I will have the expense and probably debt from the negative equity to pay for. Gosh, just writing this down is filling me with dread... One day at a time and all that...
Small things wise, I'm working job #2 - should be about £100Will put half to w/e away next weekend and half to EF.
Oh gosh, sorry for my ramblings...!0 -
Hi ally thanks for starting us off. :hello: to all that follow. Busy day today - back to back meetings from 11-4.30
Anyway other things for today:
Finished teacher gifts, just need to wrap one to go in a minute. Am pleased with my efforts. Made white buttons with rest of melted white chocolate I didn't use for the piping
Check banking, update sheet
Give product to customer, profit to savings. See if mum will collect another order for me too so I can give to customer at weekend. Really good profit on this as I already have 4 of the products in and I'd paid for them :T
LO pork and chorizo stew for lunch - not sure when I'll eat it though
Snacks and bottle of Tap water to work, hot drink for commute
Card from box for birthday will hand deliver via sister
Gifted voucher I won't use
Put dishwasher on short programme
Update present sheet after I bought the Smyths offer yesterday
Think that's about all, have a good day everyone. PF.0 -

Morning all! Thanks for starting Ally
I haven't posted for a while - been a busy bee doing the last of my overtime. I must admit I'm glad it's finished but it'll be a shock going back to my normal wage. I've already looked at my monthly budget going forward and I'm going to keep up the extreme saving we've been doing for the wedding but for a house deposit
On the savings front we are 98% there with our wedding savings - only £142 to go! We also need to think about spending money for our honeymoon (a cottage in East Sussex for 4 nights) so I'll factor that into next month's budget. I'm hoping we'll get a bit of cash on our wedding day - the majority of which will go into savings - but it would be good to know our honeymoon spends are covered. The cottage itself is paid for
LSD today - had to buy a sandwich on the way to work as I was late  I'll ask OH to make a loaf today so I can bring sandwiches for the rest of the week. Other than the sandwich all meals are from stores. There are also free cakes in our staffroomI've given up trying to diet for the wedding - he's marrying me lumps and all!
Get a couple of tins of dog food after work to tide poochy over
FPL/ banking check/ spending diary updated. I won the Euro 2016 sweepstake at work with Portugal so have £22 profit plus my original £2 stake. I'm keeping it aside to spend on something useful. My spending diary only has 1 page left so I think I might invest in a nice one from Paperchase or somewhere. They last me several years so I'll get my money's worth.
Read Martin's email
Surveys!!!
I'm really busy at work as have to work for an event on both Saturday and Sunday. I've spent the morning cleaning the room I work in (which will be open at the weekend) as the cleaners don't seem to bother. It was filthy! Spent about an hour hoovering so that can be my exercise for today. I'll also walk home tonight if its not raining. I was meant to go to my pilates class today but I forgot my stuff to change in to
Take poochy for a nice walk somewhere tonight
OH has signed up to a free month's trail of Netflix (sorry I don't know the link) and we're going through the Absolutely Fabulous box sets atm so well watch some more tonight
Update on the conman who still hasn't paid us our £500 wedding deposit back - I sent off the chargeback form to may bank last week plus sent him a letter by recorded delivery giving him 10 days to pay us back before we take legal action. Haven't heard back from either yet. I've looked into the County Court Judgement procedure - I can register one online for £35. I'll see what the bank says first and wait the 10 days to see if by some miracle he'll actually pay
Have a great hump-day all
