TalkTalk Customer Poll

No concept of customer services. We switched recently on this sites recommendation and it has been awful. 3 weeks without a functioning line - being told it is our equipment to blame - even though this worked perfectly well with BT. On cancelling (within the penalty free period) being told there was no option but to have the line disconnected. Have now been without a phone line for 4 weeks, have not been able to reconnect on our old number as Talk Talk still have this. They have revelled in making it is difficult as possible to all who try to leave. My recommendation is that no amount of savings is worth the frequent interruptions in service both to the broadband and the phone. AWFUL:mad:0

I can't fault the phone line or the general speed of web pages. The initial connection was smooth enough also.
However, as a p2p user I find I am penalised by TalkTalk's file shaping which prevents me getting adequate download speeds. The monthly download limit is 40gb, i'm sure I haven't been in excess of this, and if I have I haven't been informed or warned. My downloads can be painfully slow, and this is a major issue for me and one which I will be considering when my contract is up. I guess it makes no difference that p2p is very useful for legal downloads.
Also, I have rang TalkTalk on several occasions only to find the service well below par. Having worked in a call centre in my student days I always try to be respectful and polite as I know how rude some people can be. Yet with that in mind I have been hung up on for asking simple questions and passed from pillar to post for little reason. The call queues can be far too long on top of that with the eventual solutions given to my problems being very basic and nothing I wouldn't know myself.
I think i'll be looking elsewhere. I'd rather pay a bit more for a more organised, flexible and less constrained service.0 -
Anybody heard of e7even.com?
i was a member, and they were responsible for the nightmarish opening with talktalk:
they went bust basically, and left markers on my phone line - electronic tags if you will that meant it showed i was still connected to a broadband service. The talktalk staff, being basically completely ignorant of anything not on the checklist infront of them (including i may add their changing deals, which i had to inform them of since they had not even read their own emails!), could not deal with my complex questions.
Eventually I got hold of a number for marker removal at BT, and as soon as that happened, plain sailing.
The deal was for me to pay for a modem, even though i didnt want it. I managed to baffle them enough that i got sent the modem but never paid for it - its still in the box.
I dont use the phone any more than i used to, but its nice to know i can phone anywhere in the country and its not going to cost me any more (mobiles aside) - was always hacked off with the cost of bt's standard rates - i see they still havent got the gist of offering free broadband. Doesnt matter how competetive their rates are - talktalk have got them licked.0 -
I have had the occasional problem with the broadband service after waiting 3 months to get it connected.
My major issue was the reliability of the phone service. I have suffered from times when the phone wouldn't ring, even when it ws receiving a call and have had repeated issues with the calls being dropped and the line disconnecing and reconnecting. I have suffered the appalling customer service at first hand and you will only ever hear the scripted replies and never any real help, when you ask to speak to someone with some intelligence like a supervisor, you are told, like an impudent schoolboy, that it is up to the agent weather they put you through. I finally lost my rag and wrote to the CEO Mr Dunstone, who didn't even have the courtesy to respond to my letter and address my complaint.
My 18 month contract expires in October and I will be taking my business elsewhere. Sky has a good free broadband offer and you get to stay with BT.
Think long and hard before moving to talktalk, if price is your main concern and not customer service then talktalk is for you, otherwise weigh up the pro's and cons first.0 -
Put my mum on it and its been 100% perfect for them. I guess it depends on what you know, and what you expect. I pay £24pm for my internet alone because i know what i want and need.
Talktalk is perfect for them though and whilst they have only been with them for 6 months, they have not once had a problem.0 -
The information pack and router were delivered on time, and the go live date was also on time. However when I went to install the router, the installation disc isn't compatable with Vista. I made numerous calls to their indian call centre, and the level of English was terrible, and several times they went to put me through to their relevant department and just cut me off. I eventually got put thorugh to one gentleman who did speak good English who said I had to call the geek squad to install my router which would cost me £25. I pointed out that I had paid talktalk £20 for the wireless router, and it is down to them to ensure they supply me with the correct installation disk/instructions. After about 30 minutes of getting no where and losing my rag, I told them to forget it and cancel my subscription. Only then did they offer to knock £25 off my first bill to cover the cost of calling the geek squad. Everything is now working fine, but I am dreading getting any other problems that will involve having to contact their indian call centre.0

Excellent value for money even with a few small problems it is still the best value broadband on the market and is responsible for many of the others reducing their prices.0

Very good service it does exactly what it says on the label !! If only life were always this easy. Well done Dunstone.0

I took the £10 'offer' for the Geek Squad to help me set up and it was worth every single penny - I think I would have had problems setting up otherwise. I spoke to two 'agents' on two separate occasions and they were superb. I'd certainly recommend the extra £10 investment - it saved far more than £10 worth of wear and tear on my nerves!0

Two small problems at first.BT did not perform the connection correctly. However TalkTalk rerouted it to our mobile. After 2 days all was OK.
Call Minder did not work for a few days on and off.Sorted quickly and very efficient and pleasant.A little slow at first loading TalkTalk Home Page. All fine now and very pleased.
