TalkTalk Customer Poll

I switched about a month ago from eclipse.
I have to say it has been very good indeed so far.
My connection is at 2.5M and it seems to be pretty much the same speed all day long. Eclipse used to throttle the speed like mad in the evening which was very annoying.
I have called support 2-3 times with questions and a few small problem regarding my talktalk internet login and the webspace and they have answred the phone quickly and courteously and have been able to answer all my questions and resolve the little glitches. Nice that it is a free phone call too!
I had 1 real technical problem too which was caused by an incorrect setting in the (very cheap £20) wireless router that I bought with my package and was quickly fixed by support.
I signed up for the free napster trial last week and consequently have done lots of downloading and the downloads have always been very fast (much faster than with eclipse).
All in all so far it has been great and all I pay is £10.50 line rental and £5.89 for international calls.
The only downsides I have discovered are that I cannot use 1899 or other override providers, and that charged calls have a minimum charge of 6p which I think is unreasonable. To infinity and beyond!0 -
Also as an existing customer I have just signed up for the free freeview box and 2 month Setanta trial. I'll cancel Setanta sports after 2 months as I don't think it is very good value! To infinity and beyond!0

I've been with TalkTalk on the International3 Package since a year last April.
After some initial problems (mainly due to the overwhelming demand) I've been delighted with the astonishing value for money my £21 a month represents.
I went from a 2MB connection (very stable, consistent and quicker than the previous Tiscali offering) onto TT's LLU service from last March and, again, I have a consistent and stable connection of between 6.4 and 6.9MB.
My best mate joined TT on the same package last March and, again, he's well pleased with the value and quality of the BB and phone line.
TalkTalk did have problems, as I stated, at the beginning of the International3 offering due to the sheer demand but, to its credit, certainly overcome them a long time ago (at least in my area).0 -
I migrated away from EFH over July/August. Initial date for transfer was 19 Aug but subsequently changed to 15 Aug. EVERYTHING went smoothly and the price is unbelievably cheap.0

We moved into a house with Talk Talk and the previous owner had failed to cancel her account. It took us the best part of FOUR MONTHS to get the line disconnected - and they were still trying to charge US through the nose for the privelege!!!0

I had problems getting the modem working initially...kept dropping out. After speaking to India about 12 times, got a British Techie, and problem solved in about 10 minutes.
Have TalkTalk International 3 phone service. Reiiles in USA & Australia & friends in Europe. She spends hours talking to them, and friends in the UK, and it only costs £20 per month including the line rental.....bargain of the century.

I love love love my talktalk deal!
I joined about 6 months after it first appeared and didnt have any probs. Both phone and broadband actually started working BEFORE the estimated date...
the only prob I did have was that beginning of this year I had a 2 months period where I hardly recieved any mails, only to recieve loads backdated on one day...but that was quickly sorted.
sometimes mails will take a couple of days to arrive, but friend of mine on expensive BTbusiness deal has the same prob...
as for the fab phone deal...it's soooo nice to just pick up the phone and call friends abroad without feeling the money drain away...and I was v impressed at the low prices on the occasional time when I went over the 70mins limit...
only thing...once the initial 18 months are up...what happens????
will this incredible deal continue???0 -
fluffyduck wrote: »Awful initial experience. Modem came without the software and I had to repeatedly ask them to send it. When it eventually came there were continuous problems in setting the broadband up. The Indian call centre was next to useless - often difficult to understand and after providing me with an "answer" to the problem left me to get on with it. Each time this "answer" didn't work and I would have to recontact them . I then had to go through the whole rigmarole again - they obviously have a set list of steps that, in theory, ensure that the set-up occurs and no matter how many time you call them they insist on going through every step again - even if you inform them that you have already done so several times without success. Eventually it got though to them that they were being no help and agreed to get the British tech support people to contact me - which they did and within a reasonable period the problem was worked out and the Broadband became opaerational.
Since then the system has generally worked well and I'm more than happy with it.
However, with growing frequency, I've found that I have periods when I cannot access Talk Talk at all - the connection will goes as far as the "verification stage" and then states that the connection cannot be made. It will then be several hours (often well over 24) before I can access the Internet and my E-mails. I contacted Talk Talk who claimed that the problem lay with me - lack of filters, the phone connections with my home or a virus are the suggested reasons for the problem and they gave instructions to follow. I followed them to the letter but none of these suggested reasons for the problem proved valid. It appears to me that this is a problem at their end (oversubscription and overuse at certain times?) as the problem occurs on an irregular basis whilst at other times the service works perfectly. Friends who also have Talk Talk also seem to experience this problem. I don't know if subscribers with other Broadband suppliers suffer this problem.
All in all, however, though extremely irritating I am learning to live with the problem.
If you use their original Speedtouch Modem then this is likely to be your problem and reinstalling your modem software will probably help each time there is a problem. Talk Talk will also send you a disc with updated drivers on it which help as well. Ultimately they will recommend that you purchase a new modem (most people want wireless now anyway). Talk Talk no longer use the Speedtouch modems apparently because of this fault which develops over time.
Hope this helps you.

I have been with Talk Talk for about 6 weeks and am quite pleased with how it has gone. It does save money with the free evening and weekend calls and I have had no bother at all with the phone line. Like others I have had some problems with the internet not being available and various lights flashing on my modem. At first I called them and find that they just go through the same procedure, getting me to log in etc but the fault is on the line as there is no internet light on on the modem but they don't listen when you try telling them. Also I think the call centre must be in India which makes conversations difficult at times. I have stopped phoning them now and if I have no internet connection I have found I get it back if I switch the modem off then on again. Will be staying with them unless anything bad happens.0

 Local exchange was upgraded with Talk's equipment in April 2007 and has remained a nightmare since. Whilst the broadband line after numerous fine tuning adjustments is now live most of the time, Voicemail +, which worked fine before the upgrade, for which I am still being charged remains dead.
Numerous calls to 'customer retentions' etc and ignored emails have yet to fix.
The whole relationship between TALK and myself/other customers would be much improved if only TALK communicated. Emails to their correct addresses are ignored, not even auto receipt requests/acknowledgements are actioned and I am sick of being told 'I do understand or bear with me'
Call backs from Talk, a telecommuncations supplier are almost unheard of.
Must try MUCH harder.0
