By the way, the Pound Sterling was really jacked up in the two months before the vote to an artificial high level so the Money dealers could make their fortunes. When they saw the result of Sunderland they started dealing and the pound dropped like a stone.

That simply isn't true about it being jacked up in the two months before the vote. There are scores of websites that give the daily exchange rate going back as long as you want. This for example:

Agreed about it being hard work - but some people are scared to click on links for fear of a bug.

The point being that Sterling has dropped around 10% against the Dollar and Euro and that will have an effect on energy prices.

Even the UK sourced gas and oil will be affected by Sterling's fall as it is priced in US$ and generating companies pay US$ prices.

Thanks for the hard work Cardew. It simply is true that In the 10 days leading up to 23 June( not 2 months I admit ) it was clearly artificially jacked up 7 cents from 1.41 to 1.48 so the currency dealers , I presume, could make their fortunes...And to get some perspective on the "collapse " of the pound, Sterling was at 1.38 on 27 feb, a few cents more than it is now when no one was talking about rising energy prices or a failing currency.
The Sunderland vote result after midnight on the 24 th was supposed to be an excellent marker for the UK vote as a whole when it was clear where we were heading I watched the rate drop sharply seconds after the Sunderland result. £220 Million was made that night by one clever dealer/parasite who predicted a Leave vote .
I m OK with my tariff till June 2017 after switching to Sainsburys ,my leccy is down to 7.87 p/kwhr and gas 2.3 /kwh on Sainsburys June 2017 fix.

Energy tariffs ditched since Brexit vote

Twelve energy providers have pulled fixed-rate tariffs and replaced them with more expensive deals since 23 June, according to comparison website uSwitch.

The website found a dozen dual-fuel deals had been replaced since the referendum with new offers costing up to £105 a year more for the average customer.

It said wholesale energy costs had been rising for the past three months, and that the UK’s position as a net importer of energy meant a falling pound was pushing up prices.

British Gas, EDF and Scottish Power are among the firms to have repriced a fixed-rate gas and energy deal.
Remain supporter in economic illiteracy shock.

Wholesale prices rising for 3 months, so all tariff changes are as the result of Brexit....

Of course the actual issue is that the UK winter gas storage is out of action (and recently announced that the problem was larger and longer lasting than expected) leaving us at the mercy of European wholesale prices if we see a harsh winter and this risk is what is driving prices but why let the facts get in the way of a good Brexit rant :)
    I think....

Surely everyone, regardless of which side of the Brexit argument they support, acknowledges that the fall in Sterling will increase the price of imports and make our exports more competitive.

Sadly the UK is a net importer of oil/gas.
