OK 8 yrs ago and Wickes not Wren, but when I bought a kitchen from Wickes, every single item was listed on an invoice which I signed to say I agreed price and specification before I left the store. I had asked for different handles for the cabinets and these were listed on the invoice and correctly supplied.

But if you re-read the opening post, the sink OP saw was not a Blanco sink, but a sink with a Blanco nameplate. I still maintain that unless OP actually requested a Blanco sink, she will struggle to claim. And just because I have an Astracast sink (another story) does not mean I am not sympathetic to OP's problem, but I don't see a favourable outcome.

If it has a blanco nameplate on it, then thats a blanco sink. Just the same if I buy a car with an audi badge, its an audi car i'm buying and the dealer can't supply me with a similar looking skoda even if I didn't specifically say it was audi I wanted.

If blanco have never made those sinks and perhaps the wrong brand was attached during manufacture (can happen), then that complicates matters considerably. A court might look to see if the contract is divisible and keep the rest of the contract intact but rescind the contract for the sink. They might also say its not a breach of condition so rescission isn't possible but its still a breach of warranty so OP is entitled to replacement/damages.

I really can't think of any scenario where OP is stuck with a sink she didn't order and unable to do anything about it though.

    Not according to the OP

We went back in store to check and indeed the showroom still has a 'Blanco' manufacturer label on what we now know to be a different brand sink.

Over 50 years ago saw a car with a "Dodge" nameplate above the grille, the car was clearly a Ford Zodiac Mk 2, not a product of the Chrysler Corporation. I think the same has happened here, the Zody owner wanted people to believe he had an American car, Wren seem to be passing off an inferior sink as a Blanco.

So you are actually saying that the sink they supplied was identical to the one you saw in the showroom?
  • Hi folks,

Yes it was the same sink as in the showroom but clearly the packaging says its an Astracast sink rather than a Blanco. The store admitted that the Blanco name plate on the sink was incorrect and shouldn't be there.

Customer Services were not interested in helping. Firstly getting them to understand what we were talking about was hard enough. Although the store added notes to the system, CS couldn't see them to start with and then complained they had been put in the wrong place.

After speaking to a supervisor the CS representative said there wasn't anything that they could do.

So yes, they deceived us into thinking we were getting something better than we did and we might be able to argue further but it feels like it would be an up hill battle.

Thank you all for your highly informative advice, it is very much appreciated. We are going to give up on this and concentrate on enjoying the positive, which is that we do actually in the main have a nice new kitchen.

Is it not more that OP paid a premium price thinking they were getting a premium make/model? Therefore they can justifiably claim a rebate for receiving a lesser make/model?

I get that but I have not yet seen confirmation from the OP that their invoice stated they would be getting and paid for a different brand of sink.

  • The invoice didn't mention brand at all.

We were shown a sink in store that was clearly labelled as being manufactured by Blanco. The packaging however, showed it was a different manufacturers product.

Therefore we were given the incorrect information regards product at point of buying and this was completely wrong in our opinion. I'm not even sure Wren actually sell Blanco sinks?

I may of course drop an email to Blanco to let them know in case they are interested...

Maybe advise Wren that you plan to write to Blanco to let them know that Wren are misusing their Trademark? ;)
