Wren Mis-selling

Hi folks,

We're after a little advice. We recently purchased a new kitchen from Wren including a new kitchen sink. We originally saw the sink in-store and it had a 'Blanco' manufacturers name plate on it. This is a good brand as far as sink manufacturers are concerned and we were happy to pay the price for this.

The kitchen has all been fitted this week but we have just noticed that the sink box actually clearly states the manufacturer as 'Astracast' which is (no offense) a lesser brand.

We went back in store to check and indeed the showroom still has a 'Blanco' manufacturer label on what we now know to be a different brand sink.

We contacted Wren and they said that as we have installed the sink there is nothing they can do. Clearly we aren't happy about this and don't want anyone else being caught by the same mis-selling tactic.

Any advice?

Thanks.

I am no fan of Wren but what make of sink does your invoice state. Did the price you paid for the sink reflect a Blanco sink or Astracast sink.
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales
  • I'll check the invoice when I get home but I know the price reflected that of a Blanco sink, hence we didn't question it at the time...

In that case (as long as the invoice doesn't specifically mention an Astracast sink) they are in breach of contract and must either:

    a) replace the sink, or
    b) refund you the difference in price

    It is your choice.

Why on earth would you do that? If you did your research properly you'd know this company is a load of crap. The products are crap. The customer service is crap.

  • Clearly you have had an issue with Wren too Laurie...

I am going to call them later and ask for a refund on the difference between the sink brands. I don't like my chances but this would be a good point for them to redeem themselves I guess.

So what did the invoice say ??
  • Sorry K3lvc, the invoice actually says 'Swale 1.0 Bowl White Ceramic Reversible Sink With Drainer
'. That's a made up name on their behalf for the sink regardless of manufacturer as far as I can see...

Nope, I've never used them purely because if I'm going to whack out some money I do some research on the company first. Sorry but I've got no sympathy. Just type wren into this site's search and see what you find.

  • I can understand your lack of sympathy at this point obviously.

We did research first which pointed to the main product i.e. the kitchen units being ok though. We actually bought most of the appliances such as oven, cooker hood etc and even handles elsewhere. We just got caught out by the Blanco label on the sink in store.

I didn't get a chance to call them yesterday but will do so today.

Astracast sinks are not bad though. It should still be fit for purpose.

Understand your frustration . Agree with bod1467. They should either replace the sink or offer you some money back.

Shambles of a company. The product is OK and the showrooms are impressive, their sales tactics are shameful however.
