I do have to admit, it's a real bargain. Although ordering 3 lots of 12 bottles (rather than one of 36) with different email address (so the voucher works) would have got you it at £1.03 before quidco and cashback...

Glad you got what you wanted anyway!

    Thanks OP!

I got 12 bottles of French red/white for £22.?? last night when the other one was out of stock.:j

Then OH ordered 12 of the garnacha for £12.32 when it came back in stock:j

    Well chuffed:T :T :T

I never pay loads for wine and very rarely have anything less than lovely. If some people want to pay loads thats fine with me.Leave the bargains for me:j

I agree 100%. I'm sure the amateur wine buffs who pay crazy money for their wine help to keep plebs like me in a subsidised wine-induced glow most nights of the week. :D My SIL started a job a year ago in a swanky office (in the City) populated by several 'wine buffs/snobs' and has now progressed from buying £2.99 bottles to bottles costing over £20 and looks down her nose at people like us who just buy cheap stuff. We've clashed a few times over it when I've challenged her to take a 'blind taste test' and try and pick out her expensive stuff compared to our plonk and she refuses point blank. Says it all, really.

    Where?:Tless than£1?

Do a search for Lambrini Bianco, it's £15.16 for 12 bottles, so minus £10 = £5.16 or just 43p a bottle by my calculation ( plus postage of course)

The postage almost doubles the price per bottle to approx 84p :D

Sorry to go off-topic but whilst we are on the subject of "quality" wine vs plonk - it is worth noting that the duty paid on each bottle of wine is fixed (think its about £1.30 at the moment). So percentage-wise more money is obviously being put into production of more expensive wine then cheap wine. Technically then you should get a better bottle the more you pay.

When you think of a £5 bottle of wine (£5 -90p vat -£1.30 duty -retaillers profit -bottle/packaging -transport costs etc etc) it doesnt leave much money left for good quality production - and thats on a fiver bottle which are generally pretty good.

Read into this what you like its obviously a bit like supermarket value products- sometimes theyre reasonable - sometimes their downright bad - its true to say you pay for what you get with wine but if you're gonna pay £20 a bottle you should do your research because I reckon 75% of it is no better than your fiver bottles.

Anyway - I'm not knocking it as Ive bought some - as I always do with wine bargains - if its rubbish I open it up later on at a party. But just thought I'd mention the above just so you know you're drinking something that has probably only cost pence to make.

Oh - its back in stock BTW

not if you order 3 cases of 6 -then use the £10 off voucher that's around then it's £1.10 or whatever a bottle if we get it!

Absolutely. I have never paid £20+ for a bottle of wine (I would go bankrupt!) :) But by trading up a few pounds you do generally get better quality because of the percentage of the cost that actually represents the wine in the bottle (as you said above). Generally speaking there are plenty of decent wines in the £5 to £7ish range and if you can find an offer like the £10/£15 off to bring the price down a bit then great. For example the Singing Grüner Veltliner is good value at the normal price but with the discounted price and then the extra £15 off a case (of 12) it's a bargain! (£3.90 a bottle for a decent Austrian Grüner Veltliner = great!)

But having said that the wine in the original post (Simply Garnacha) sounds at least drinkable and at little more than £1 a bottle it's a no-brainer - as you say if you really don't like it yourself it's useful for parties etc. :)
