  • The selection of wines at Tesco is pretty dire but there are a few decent ones if you hunt around. If you want a 'cheap' Garnacha (Grenache) then the Gran Tesoro Garnacha is okay especially for the price (£2.99 per bottle instore price) but I can't find it on the site. Generally though a £2.99 wine is not going to be very pleasant to drink and wine is one thing where you do generally get better quality when you pay a bit more.

The Cono Sur Reserva Riesling is a reasonable white wine and the Argento Malbec is an okay red (although Malbec is not everyones red grape of choice). The Guigal Cotes du Rhone Mixed Case is also a decent buy if you like rose (2 reds, 2 whites, 2 rose) - not tried the rose as not a rose fan but the Guigal Cotes du Rhone red and white are both decent wines at the price.

    Doubt it, just cheap plonk!

The same codes can be used for any 12 bottles of wine so for a few pounds more you can get some decent buys.

You can actually get some cheap party stuff for far less than £1 a bottle, but it's up to you whether you drink it or clean the drains with it!!!
    Where?:Tless than£1?

With the greatest of respect, I'm not convinced that most people who populate a thread advertising wine at just a shade over £1 a bottle would be that interested in the fineries of wine (me included). I remember one particular experiment on the BBC many years ago when some so-called wine experts actually agreed to a blind test (not something a lot of them will actually do, I wonder why). Several expensive French wines were tested, plus one that was produced in Rotherham. Yes, you can guess which wine was considered the best by these people who made a living out of telling people which were the best wines to buy. :D

Once there, look in the top left corner and click on the Tesco.com link, then all the various depts reveal themselves, including Wine by the Case! Then put simply garnacha in the search box. Voila. HTH.
