Don't hold your breath on getting the Simply Garnacha. I tried to order some 3 weeks ago when it was in/out stock and they couldn't fulfill. The site isn;t a live stock site, just estimated. Here's what they said to me (a week after order accepted).

"I'm sorry some your wine was out of stock and that we were unable to tell
you sooner. I can appreciate how annoying this was for you.

The wine was in stock when you placed your order. But, between then and the delivery date, we sold more than expected.

Your wine order comes from our central warehouse, which has a much larger stock, but this also means that it is harder to update our system as the stock levels are constantly changing

I've let our buying team know about this and they'll try to make sure this
    doesn't happen again."

I hope this doesn't happen now or Tesco will have a lot of disgruntled and determined moneysavers to deal with! Don't they have an obligation to fulfil
the order? The delivery date, Items ordered and order have been confirmed (haven't checked if they've taken payment yet), surely this constitutes a contract? Any legal beavers care to share they're expertise?
  • Showing as back in stock.

Yeah - can they substitute with a case of champers? :-D

It may SAY it's back in stock, but, as posted earlier, the Tesco stock control system leaves a lot to be desired!

It won't be the first time I've not got what was ordered. However, I've previously accepted the alternative and then phoned them to say it wasn't good wine. They then refunded the price and let us keep the wine!!!

However, that was on a good quality wine where they subsituted an inferior one. This offer is 'plonk' so that speil probably won't work this time! Sorry!
  • It says in stock, lets you get to payment stage, then says out of stock. Go back to page and it's in stock again. Yawn. For a retailer of such a big size their online offering is a shambles.

    Hi
legally its a grey area, yes although you have entered a contract with them for the time, delievery etc, Tesco covers themselves as the transaction is processed before your delievery, and thats when the transaction offically goes through. But any shop / site is classed as an invitation to look,
They cover themselves in the small print.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, champagne in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming ~ WOO HOO what a ride!
