Well I feel more like me now, I've just had a mega session in the store room and unpacked all my prepping equipment and yesterday I unpacked all the prepping books I have and they are on the book shelf. I've found my missing waterproofs and unearthed my wellies too and set the solar lights to charge on the windowsill ….. Hello, it's MEEEEEEE! xxx0

Hi Angie, all went well and we're almost unpacked now and almost cardboard free too thanks to fantastic recycling facilities in the village car park here. Love the house, love the village and getting to know the place. It feels very different to the south coast and somehow safer but I can't define why or how xxx.0

MrsL, if you've got your books unpacked, then you're home! And the waterproofs may be about to come in handy... again. Glad you're settling in.0

Thanks everyone, Ivyleaf they will now be happy and DRY posts! I couldn't locate my waterproofs and a folding rucksack anywhere and was thinking they had been left behind or lost but then decided to investigate the big under stairs cupboard that had been filled on day 1 and then sealed in behind the box mountain and there they were in the first bag picked up strangely enough with a sun hat I got back in Hampshire in the really hot weather! and then there were the wellies too right beside the bag, I think this house was co-operating so it must like us xxx.0

Sounds as if you're where you are meant to be MrsLW
Have to say I am envious. I have now been in rural France with my sister and b-in-law for just over three weeks and the thought of going home next week is the only thing keeping me going!!0 -
Amidst all these vital settlings-in, have you registered with a doctor & a dentist? He Who Knows found a place to fish yet?
Says she whose immune system is waltzing with the flu jab, and who is beaming at the very community memory of the flu queue. Wonderful - a line of people, all good humoured, helping each other on & off with jackets etc, catching up on news of health children schools etc and being whisked in & out of the nurses' grasp in mere seconds.
Eldest is planning what he needs to know to move out - like room size in inches & centimetres, and where best to get a bed, and have I got plates & bowls or merely a teapot jug & sugarbowl set aside. Bless the lad!0 -
Yes HWK has his licence, permit and has been fishing already, yes we've registered with the Doctor here, been for a first appointment each and have flu jabs and general blood tests booked for next week and DD1 has got us places with her dentist who is private but is willing to take us on as patients on a scheme that means he only charges £33 for check ups. Best will be if we can find an NHS dental place but they aren't very easy to find up here. We've done all the usual change of addresses, have new bus passes from this county, joined the library in the village, found a milkman who delivers in glass bottles and have even got the changes of address done on driving licenses which are back and with us now. HWK is very organised!0
