DH has renewed the company car. He's ordered a hybrid. The two reason are that with the electric charge he can get to work and back should there be a fuel shortage and it's £80 a month cheaper in tax. There was a 4x4 option that we felt we needed for hill living but the tax would have taken more from his salary then it does now and I didn't like the emissions numbers on it.
I just like the self-contained idea

I'm back in my own house again - horrified to see that Kittie had been suspended, even temporarily, the situation obviously hasn't been investigated at all since the suspension hasn't been immediately lifted
Looking at her posts, and then searching for "kittie" would have told the so-called administrators everything they need to know. They simply don't seem to be "administrating".
Life is fragileand once again, it's shown me that I have to make good use of my downtime when I'm not going out, making sure my own life/ situation is as resilient as possible.

Hi guys
I thought I’d pop over and say hello.
My preps are probably going to be used sooner than later because the sale of our investment holiday property looks like it’s going to fall through. So we will have another few months of a mortgage payment we can’t really afford. (When we bought the place OH had a good job and another 12 years at work, also the exchange rate wasn’t rubbish, it just shows how things can change)
OH is now retired due to ill health so no where near as much money coming in so it was time to sell it. But luckily I’ve just got a job (part time but better than nothing) and we’ve plenty of stocks in so I’m going to see how long I can stretch it out with just fresh stuff to buy)
We’ve been through worse and survived
Anyway enough about me
How’s everyone. I hope everyone is keeping safe with the weather starting to break, the thunder, lightning and heavy rain.
It’s just windy here at the moment with the occasional sprinkle. It’s amazing how little rain starts the grass getting greener again.
I hope Kittie is reinstated soon.

The millennium turned out to be a case of worrying about nothing, and I'm expecting Brexit to be the same.0 -
The weather has finally broken here.
It's quite a few degrees cooler than it was this time yesterday, and it's raining on and off.
For the first time in weeks, I'm not using my air cooling unit.0 -
Most likely BOB it will and all our plots and plans will have just been fun and not necessity BUT just in case eh?0

I also read in another forum that a poster had seen people who seemed to be panic-buying meat and burgers for barbecues.
In weather like we've been having recently, people tend to have barbecues, for which they obviously need food to cook on it.
I'm not sure I'd class that as "panic-buying".0 -
I think the millenium bug turned out all right BECAUSE people prepped and lots of contractors deservedly earned good money for many hours of tedious work looking for code that just had 00 instead of 2000.
The question no-one knows the answer to - yet- is what needs to be done at a national level. As for me at a personal level, I'm just doing what I can to give myself a bit of resilience even if it's just against price risesIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -

Preps are never a waste of time, unless you don't use them and they go out of date. At the very least as maryb says, you buy before the price hikes.0
