:j Oh wow oh wow, I want you to adopt me! Thank you for such a comprehensive answer, I really appreciate you taking the time.
Oh, and they've got a newly-opened gallery in the museum at Vindolanda, only opened mid-April and it's all about wooden artefacts including (your lads might like to know) a very rare wooden LOO SEAT.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Bless you my willingly adopted child (we can dicker about relative age later) - the pretext needed to Go Back To Vindolanda Again has just been revealed.
He who grouses, can blinking well make alternative arrangements, or walk. (The chaps are getting on in age & obstreperousness & an adopted child who Wants to go?!) Can join me.
I was comprehensive? Just reminiscing happily. Anyway lunchtime is Mine. The gods of flexi & I can argue over the small print later.0 -
Goshdammit, I wish I wasn't a whole day's drive away from The Wall, or I'd be all over it like white on rice. When I'm back at w*rk I shall have to see if I have any leave days left in 2018 and whether I can get back up there in the autumn.
I will sit in the back of your car, fight with your offspring (I practised on Kid Bruv, I know how to fight dirty) and sing out are we nearly there yet? at regular intervals.:rotfl:Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

We're a couple of hours away, if the menfolk give me lip, one will be lashed to the roofbars, but Any "Are We nearly There Yet" & You'll be up here alongside.
Every time one of the offspring mutters "Childline", I point out that Elder Abuse is also a Known Thing & the courts are much nastier on The Young. (A myth - I believe our magistrates are not wildly ageist, but keeping the young in check is part of my job as a parent. When they make me a grandma, I'm sure we will negotiate on a much more "appalling but you know, you did that too" basis... Or form a cheerful alliance with the grandchild - "you keep 'em up awake all night Tuesday & I'll pitch the you coming [& eating icecream with me] Wednesday....")0 -

Bad Grandma!
The sun has passed over the yard-arm and the tinkle of gin bottles can be heard across the carpark (slight porkie-pie) and I am now cool enough * to head up to the allotmentino to kondo the shed contents.
If I'm not back in few hours, assume one of the spiders fought back - it was nice knowing youse all anyway.............
* temperature wise. I'm cool-cool at all times of the day and night. And, if you believe that, I have a lubberly bridge to sell you, form an orderly queue, no pushing and shoving and will that guy with the sausages onna stick get the hell outta here?! That means you, Dibbler!Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Wonderful :j:j:j
I'm packing preps for a holibob - the usual assortment I always take, along with two additions, both of which came from ideas on this thread: one of the little keyring additions that contain a couple of aspirin for emergency heart treatment, and a little tiny screwdriver that can be used on spectacles. I used to have one, and I used it too, but it fell away somewhere. I have three nowI think they were all of 14p each on the bay.

For sheer ingenuity Cragside (in Rothbury, Northumberland) gets my vote. The first domestic residence to have electricity (hydro), piped heating, a rotary spit turned by dog power and lots of other clever stuff.GC Feb 25 - £225.54/£250 Mar £218.63/£2400
