maybe I just need some sunshine. I do take Vit D supplements but it has been such a long winter and late cold wet spring I'm sure I could do with more. Hope so anyway. It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0

Could it maybe be low thyroid as well? I had ten years of being exhausted, terrible memory, feeling cold.hair loss etc as the blood tests levels had changed only a couple of months after the first blood tests so I seemed borderline normal yet a few months later I would have been considered for treatment.
I spent years thinking I was somehow weak and a wimp and hypochondriac only to find how much the tablets helped once I was properly diagnosed.0 -
Elona, it does sound like low thyroid doesn't it? Doctors take one look at me especially the fact that the outer third of my eyebrows are non existence and order blood tests. But they always come back normal and not even borderline. Maybe kelp tablets might helpIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0

Oooh, maryb, I hope you're not having an ME flare. I do that thing where I 'lose the thermostat' - getting icy cold no matter what the actual temperature is doing, even if it's nearly 30 degrees.
I've been muchly helped by taking a kelp & vitamin tablet a day (supporting thyroid function) and slow-release vitamin C (to help iron absorbtion). And Floravital. Plus syncing my bedtime and waking time with darkness and light. Sleep is incredibly important for supporting all our physiological processes, I've been reading up on it.
Have had X-ray results back and my right hip has severe degeneration with full-thickness loss of articular cartilage (!). On the plus side, the left hip is fine. Perversely, due to help with posture from a Bowen Technique pratictioner, I'm now almost pain-free and only limp if I've been standing or walking a lot. Go figure. And I've got a free pass if anyone ever tries to persuade me to take up running as GP says not recommended, should be looking at yoga/ pilates/ tai chi.
I tried tai chi once before, in a complicated set of circumstances. Whilst slightly under the influence of the grain and the grape. With several fellow reprobates - there was a lot of laughing and falling over.

I'm still trying to think of my 5 rules - the first one should probably be, never get so busy you don't have time to think! But off the top of my head:
1... Always look after your health, as far as possible. That especially includes eating good food - you can take all the exercise you like, but if you're living on shop-bought pizza & Haribo, you're really running on empty in many respects. (Are you reading this, DS2?!) Garbage in, garbage out, as we used to say in computing.
2... Pay your bills & debts ASAP - it'll take a load off your mind.
3... Question everything. The louder everyone insists something MUST be so, the more it needs to be questioned.
4... Be kind & considerate whenever you can. A friendly smile or a tiny act of kindness can change someone's life. You may never know it, but what goes around, comes around and one day it may be you that benefits. Do as you would be done by...
5... Don't try to live your life by someone else's rules...Angie - GC Aug25: £106.61/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0 -

Maryb have you had your Vitamin B12 levels checked? There is a LOT of overlap in symptoms between a B12 deficiency and things like thyroid problems and ME. Reasons for a deficiency can range from certain meds (eg prolonged use of PPIs), Pernicious anaemia (an autoimmune condition which causes B12 deficiency), GI issues / surgery, diet (unlikely unless vegan and not supplementing / eating B12 fortified foods) or just plain getting older and consequently producing less intrinsic factor(which is essential for B12 uptake from the gut). Worth checking out anyway...

Always try to deal with any event/situation/breakage etc straight away, before it either gets worse in reality or in your mind.
Relax and try to enjoy each moment.
I just knocked a glass bottle of after shave from a shelf,by accident, onto a ceramic toilet cistern- ouch!Taking your advice,a trot up to the workshop, some epoxy resin and bit of jigsaw puzzling...it doesn't look so catastrophic now! The above quote contains wide words.Thanks.0 -

Maryb Will a blood test show ME? If so maybe it would be worth having it checked anyway, even though you up your vitamin and mineral uptake?
We have now had no kitchen for over a week, and will not have one for another ten days as there are unexpected issues with water and gas pipes. Now we have no microwave either so all my home cooked ready meals prepped ready for all of the renovations are of little use. We also currently have no water or electricity from 8 in the morning until the early evening. Apart from tinned soup, beans and fried food what can I cook for two people, fairly quickly, on a one ring gas cooker. Builders leave about seven and we are very hungry by then.
It seems that either I am too tired to think clearly or I am not as well prepared as I thought I was and my girl guide and prepping skills need sharpening up0 -

Maryb, that sounds like me. Eventually my doctor prescribed

Which worked and I have eyebrows again
When in the UK I thought that the T**co Hair and Nails own brand tablets were very similar and a good price if you got them on 3 for 2 - although Dr prescribed here the tablets were not covered by the health service here in France so I have to pay for them
They might be worth you giving them a try - Not only do I have have full length eybrows again but I have half-decent nails for the first time too and a lot more energy, although that took longer to build. I now alternate the hair and nail tablets with a multivit - month and month about - but I think there are more trace elements in the T**co hair and nail than in the multivit and minerals :rotfl:Aiming for a Champagne Lifestyle on a Lemonade Budget
