Having seen the newspaper reports of people trapped on a train for hours I'm going to keep a foil blanket in my little rucksack-the one I use when travelling. I always take plenty of food, water and usually a flask just in case the buffet car isn't open or I'm in a carriage at the end of the train-I get travel sick if I have to stand up for too long on some trains .

prepping next time, will bring walking boots and wellingtons indoors before it all starts. Could kick myself, pretty obvious that I would not be able to get to them
:) Last Sunday, I tidied my 'bike shed' which is about 10 yards away from the flat but on the same level and undercover. My wellies were in there, in placcy bags to keep any spiders out. On the first snowy day, I wore my shoes down the row and changed footwear in the shed, wellies have been living on a newspaper on the hall floor ever since. It would have been slightly easier if I'd fetched them in the previous evening.

Bit of a PITA as the hall is 75 cm wide and full of doors, so they are very much in the way, but nowhere else to put them and I want them at hand. Hiking poles are just inside the front door, so I'm not tempted to forget them.

Karmakat, I don't know if you'll be able to get YTs delivered in time to be used in this bout of snow. Kid Bruv sent a book off from a crown post office two days ago and the assistant couldn't even tell him when it would start moving, there have been no postal deliveries (nor collections) in my city for 4 days in a row. Once things ease up, there will be a backlog of parcels and letters which will take a while to clear.

And don't even get me started on the bins, that'll be a mess for a fortnight..........!

I'm going to spend this afternoon indoors, getting the sewing machine out now to do a long-postponed project and then doing some hand-mending later. If nothing else, enforced house rest will see me caught up on some odd jobs.:p

No free Craftsy classes that I can see

But then again it would take me more than a weekend to watch all the ones I've already bought but not got round to watching:o

Oh I'm sure I won't get them in time for *this* set of shenanigans, GQ, absolutely. But I think they'll be a great long-term purchase, since I have all these vouchers stacked onto my Amazon account now, from swwa gbucks.

OTOH, I don't think I've been hit by the snow as badly as your city. I sent something off in the post at 3pm on Thursday, and it arrived the next morning - from SE England to Liverpool! And my binmen were due to collect yesterday morning, and they did, absolutely on time. I was surprised at that, I must say, but it happened.

Ok got it, you have to look at Craftsy Unlimited.

Though, as I mentioned, I have almost all the classes I am interested in so Unlimited would not be good value for me. But I'll have a look at the classes I was thinking of getting

  • I've just come back from walking Cookie and although it's cold outside it's warmed up enough for the pavements and roads to be virtually clear of snow and ice, the snow is still thick on lawns and verges but I don't think it will be there for long as it's just started raining and the problem will then be melt water run off, it's very puddley underfoot already.

  • Yup! weather system coming up from the continent and bringing warm air and also much rain but the upside of that is we're due temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees next week.
