Sorry - remind me what's sensible in a hospital bag?
As I'd like to try to sort one each for my parents, to give myself & my sisters a bit of peace of mind.0 -

I'd think something along the lines of:-
Pyjamas/nightie
Dressing gown
Slippers
Spectacles (if worn)
Washing kit
Mobile phone charger
List of useful phone numbers (in case mobile gets left behind)
Medications/list of medications
Money - say £20 in assorted notes and coinage (more if hospital is very far from home)
More can be added, according to individual needs/preferences.0 -

Best if this is contained in a bag that's either small enough to sit in a typical bedside locker or can be folded down to fit.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I remember that my mother and her friends all had a hospital bag in a wardrobe. I have never had one but It is time I did. I think I will copy that list and add to it when I think of things or when ideas pop up on the thread. It will be like writing a list for a cabin bag ie as small as possible. Mobile phone is a problem for me, I don`t have a mobile signal and hardly know how to use the emergency brick that I sometimes remember to take in the car with me0

Bob - so sorry to read your posts, that sounds like a very nasty infection. Glad the living room s warm, hope you’re managing lots of fluids?
I have had a hospital bag packed since my sudden journey there after the heart attack three years ago. I realised I needed to check it after reading the posts here, as I didn’t think there was any cash in there, However I’m doubly glad to be reminded of it because I’ve just unearthed it and fished out the hand cream and lip balm in it touse now. Thank you so much for the reminder everyone. Oddly, although we are well prepped for warmth, food and water I had run out of hand cream this week and my hands are now really sore as I have medication related issues generally with dry skin.
I’ll make sure I stock up on some extra tubes when I can get to the shops again, I just hadn’t realised my stock was so low although I use it every day. The tube squirrelled away in the hospital bag has been a hand saver0 -

Also, maybe a small radio and "earbud" headphones, as hospital radio is rather limited in choice.
ETA: Don't forget to replace the batteries (probably as well to include a whole pack of a dozen in the grab bag) every say 12 months.0 -
oh dear, I see that a loose piece of render has come off the garden wall, Another job to do when the weather is warmer, just shows the power of freeze/thaw. I will need to check the house render in a few days, the bits I can reach. I hope I don`t need to do more house repairs, it takes several processes and then I need to paint it. I am going to try and stick the wall render back and fill the cracks around. I will run out of paint if I am unlucky, costs an arm and a leg0
