<putters back in from google images - a mattock is now part of my visual dictionary.>
I have a preference for sorting really bad land with pigs, but where pigs are less than easy to use, the mattock is a formidable but of kit.
As a side thought, did you realise just how easy it is to make cheese? Not the hard stuff, not the rennet necessarily etc but the soft cheese. Youngest reading avidly with a view to home made Boursin!
I may have unleashed a monster...0 -

Ah, f e c k it, let's have another cup of tea.......Gin helps, too. I don't bother with watching the telly news when I'm here with the folks and there is a telly. I'll be planting veggie seeds next week, regardless of the fat gets with dodgy haircuts blustering in various parts of the world.
As for the holy rollers and their Rapture - they're gonna be dead meat one day same as the rest of us, and their delusions exist nowhere but in electric impulses across about a kilo of spongy grey matter and will end when their own personal lights go out.
I regard myself as ambulatory compost - all this is temporary, we go back to atoms in the end. :rotfl:Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Nowt so bad as an egoist determined to make their mark ruling a nation imo. War/the threat of war is an obvious avenue for an egoist to take.
Roll on the "grey" men and women running some countries that just get on and quietly do their job of trying to keep their country running smoothly without flare or fanfare.0 -

Edited to add:
Just realised said inflatable elephant actually hangs out around the Garden Fence.
Enough of this petty pilfering!
GIVE THAT ELEPHANT BACK AT ONCE.
You have no idea of what you might have unleashed. Have you never heard of the fearsome army the Garden Fence has assembled?
Get back to your prepping games and leave the serious stuff to us.

Imo the Telegraph ought to be ashamed of itself quoting a statement from N Korea as it's headline - without making the source clear in the actual headline.
NK has been coming out with this garbage for years.
Not to say it won't come true one day (like now ).
You are quite right pineapple and I hadn't spotted that they were quoting NK directly. The Telegraph never used to be so sensationalist but they have been going downhill for the last couple of years. Might have to stick with more balanced news sources like ZH and the Grauniad :rotfl:0 -
And, striking a cheerful Grauniad note, have a dekko at the cooking section.
Yes, the Dig tribe will dine on Home Made pasta tonight - godfather expressed a yearning to have a go, we saw the machine in a charity shop (& the flour in Sainsburys, ahem) and let the conjunction displace whatever continents tried to interfere.
The machine wiggles, unless clamped with extra cloth. It takes stubbornness & some muscle to attain the smooth dough (I'll not take the mick out of Italian Grandmas again - kneading just eggy pasta takes either technique or hefty muscle!) then the lengths take dusting & drying since we hadn't planned to chuck it straight into the cook pot.
I'll report back on survival rates, but so far it looks like loads of fun plus blinking hard work. We may find volunteers to let rip with the mattock though.0 -
I got our azada at a site called get-digging which had an assortment of styles. Ours is like a kind of right angled spade but much heftier than a spade. They are a bit pricey but great quality. We have the bill hook from there too which is a beast with brambles and quite handy on thick patches of tall nettles too.0

Or as neatly put on one of my favourite T-shirts "Life is meaningless, and then you die"
ETA - my all-time favourite is the one best suited for messing with the minds of folks in the checkout queue in Waitrose ... "My friend Brian lives in my pocket. He tells me when to start the fires."We're all doomed0 -
I used tot alk online to a girl in California who seriously and honestly believed that there were tiny people living in her throat who spoke for her.0
