Good morning, sorry to change the flow of conversation.
Can anyone recommend a solar charger that can be bought in store - not from ammazzzon. I want to be able to charge phones/tablets with it.
Thanks
Jimjim x
Perhaps Bob may know the answer. You can look up reviews online to give you an idea of which brands people like. I usually start there.Overprepare, then go with the flow.

Fuddle, a handful of years ago (I was in my forties then) I was down for the flu jab and they asked at the same time when I'd last had a pneumonia jab?
Responded never had one and ended up with the flu jab in one arm and the pneumonia one in t'other.:rotfl:
Given your recent history, perhaps you should ask the GP if it's appropriate for you? Hope you're well on the mend and not overdoing it.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Fuddle up here if you're at risk of pneumonia or have had it you are eligible for the jab, also those over 70. It is a once-a-lifetime thing, and since I had repeated bouts of ambulant pneumonia this year which has left my lungs sensitive i'm going to have it.0

Given the doubts about the banking system, either as a whole or specific banks, many preppers advocate a stash of cash. Be it £1 coins, £2 coins, Krugerrands - some kind of currency is held to be a good idea.
Just be very careful Where you locate your stash. As not only do we have the usual hazards of burglars, teenagers & unexpected emergencies leaving you muttering "I *will* replace it", history has recently revealed that even more awkward events can arise.
Some blighter can build a castle over where you thought it safely hidden.
(Me, I suspect the C17th sprite to have concealed a tiny coin collection & never to have expected all this fuss centuries later, but then A Stash which you Never Come Back for is clearly in the Wrong Place.)0 -
Here in the States, we have them at 60 unless prior pneumonia. There is now a second one recommended that covers other forms, so I'm getting that one with this year's flu shot.
DfV you post is a real hoot! Love it! :rotfl::rotfl:Overprepare, then go with the flow.

I had flu in 1958. Blow me if I didn't have it again in 1998. By my reckoning I'm due for the next dose in 2038. By then I will be 99 and probably quite grateful if it carries me off.I believe that friends are quiet angels

I got flu every single winter and twice got pneumonia after it. In the late 60s and again in the early 80s, I was really ill. The RV has had it once in 1986 and still moans about it!! Real flu isn't funny. You are so weak you need helped to get from bed to toilet, and you lose a lot of weight. I'm having the flu jab every year.0

Mar: You couldn't be righter. Real flu is NOT funny.
My second bout started when I was teaching. I made my way to the staff room where I was immediately dispatched home.
I remember nothing about driving home but dimly recall going upstairs on my hands and knees when I got there. That was the last thing I remember.
Fortunately one of my sons was between women at the time and nursed (I use the term loosely) me.
Florence Nightingale he was not.
I think he must have been told at some point that the treatment for shock was hot, sweet tea. This was the extent of his medical training. I hate sweet tea but as it was all that was on offer I eventually became able to swallow it.
I wouldn't recommend it as a flu cure but I survived.
Since then I have always tried to have soluble aspirin, lemons and honey in the house.

Morning all.
Are You a Prepper?
Hmm, as I think you're all slightly batty, in a nice way, obviously, I find it slightly worrying that I got 10 on your first list. With no TV watching unrealistic practical advice is out. The wood-burning stove helps, and if I added in the two axes, one hatchet, lump hammer, wedges, splitting grenades and length of left over oak bannister rail under the bed I could have added the weaponry one as I channel my inner anglo-saxon shield maiden.
I do have some water in the house but that's to add to the 95% alcohol I use for making my own drinks. (I'm so glad I wasn't rear-ended returning from my last continental trip...). I'm surprised foraging wasn't included in the middle-class survey, as after all what else does one make in one's Aga than blackberry and apple pie?
Learning to make decent beer is my next task, to fuel these late night ramblings, but failing that a cheapo Naturtrube from my nearest discount supermarket will have to do..0 -
