  • I have had the flu jab every year for the last 20 years as I am diabetic - with a few other ailments added on - and it has never made me ill. The practice nurse gave me this year's last week when I went for the B12 injection!

Quite a few people on ME and Addisons groups having probs with this year's flu jab. Anybody here had it yet?

I had mine last Monday and have had no problems with it at all. Last year's itched a lot, but this year's seems fine.
The only time I had problems with it was the year they put the swine flu vaccine in with it; I believe this year they've put the swine flu one in it again but it hasn't affected me at all, perhaps because I'd already had that vaccine.

ETA Not sure if I'm right about the swine flu one being in it or not, so don't be put off. The nurse at the surgery didn't know, I just seem to recall reading it somewhere :o

Not to mention James Madden of Exacta weather. One year he will be right

Actually it could be this year - a combination of La Niña and the right phase of the North Atlantic Oscillation can bring much colder weather. I think it may have been that combination back in 2010

I suppose that one year even the Met Office will be right, if I live long enough to see it ...

had a quick look at some of the other forecasters. Most of them seem to say something along the lines of it's finely balanced at this stage but likely to be a bit colder than average

    Hardly snowmaggeddon!

I invested in a pair of Timberland boots 13 years ago. Apart from 2010 they've hardly been worn! (I know it was 13 years ago because the receipt is still in their box.)
  • Showed youngest the express article - he says should he just get the boat out of the water now and save time??? :rotfl:

For info there is an egg-free flu vaccine now.

Must get mine arranged, and pneumococcal one too (which isn't egg free I don't think)

Is the pneumonia jab a yearly one? I wonder if I would qualify for it with being under 40?

Good morning, sorry to change the flow of conversation.

Can anyone recommend a solar charger that can be bought in store - not from ammazzzon. I want to be able to charge phones/tablets with it.

    Thanks
