We have been making the egg and cheese muffins they showed a couple of weeks ago and have been surprised at how nice they are. A quick and easy breakfast.
Could you please post up the recipe, I do recall seeing them and thinking I'd like to give them a try but didn't write the details down.

i have been watching the series but with no interest from the rest of the family however last night my daughter watched it and seems really keen .Today i have bought derving jars , sugar free jelly and strawberries .They have worked out at 27p a pot as opposed to the 67p my hubby paid for a ready made hartleys jelly pot.
Even went as far as ordering the book so really looking forward to trying out the rest of the ideas.
Hope you're serving them in jam jars!;)0 -
Thanks. Is it this one:

I'd recommend the Cremant du Jura sparkling chardonnay from Aldi at £7.49. Don't be put off by the grape, it's dry and fabulous!:D
Don't think so as they said it only cost a fiver. Have to have a look on iplayer and see if we can see the label! I won't be buying any as can't stand fizzy white wine (unless it's got some cassis in it).

PS Just had another look but still can't see it properly but looked on Tesco website and the one you linked to works out at £5 a bottle if you buy a case!0 -
I think it's Aldi's Contevedo - definitely ended vedo

Is that the one they made in a mug, they just put some butter is the bottom of a mug, cracked in an egg, mixed it round, a bit of grated cheese on top and microwaved. Served in a toasted muffin.
It's here scroll down to 21 July

That's the one (and how I reminded myself how to make it too!) We have to melt the butter for 20 secs and the eggs take just over a minute but they are really nice and super easy to make. We have a slice of ham or bacon on the bottom if we're feeling extravagant :rotfl:0 -

Ha! Definitely going to try them on my mum when he goes out with his dad for lunch one day!
Has anyone made the oaty bars from the episode a bit back yet? Dying to know what they're like - is Agave a necessity? Costs a bomb, can we not just use something else?
I have done the peanut butter oaty bars twice now.
I used about 3 1/2 fl oz of honey and 4 of peanut butter 225 g of oats and a 250 g bag of mixed berries and cherries from lidl - no agave .
The first lot I did as in the programme and just put them in the freezer to set , they tasted lovely I don't think any agave or any other sweetener was needed as the dried fruit added sweetness. The problem was they just crumbled so the second time I made them I baked them for about 35 minutes on gas mark 1 . They taste just as nice but stuck together better.
I have been using nigellas breakfast bar recipie with a can of condensed milk and the family loved them so I'll probably alternate the two Recipies. They work out much cheaper than buying the boxed ready made bars.0 -
Did anyone else think that the frying pan she cooked the steaks in was woefully too small?
And that she'd cut the steaks really strangely for 4 people?
And that using an ordinary kitchen fork to turn the steaks was weird?
It was just not the way I'd have done it.0 -
For who asked (sorry, forgot to hit quote) agave isn't necessary in any recipe, really. They seem to be using what they deem as "healthier" (I assume since it's fructose based, can't remember if they gave their reason) but sugar is sugar. I'd stick to a liquid variety to keep the correct wet to dry ratios but honey should work just the same.I'd quite like to know how many weeks of receipts the programme looks at. My shopping costs can vary a lot from week to week depending whether I am doing a large shop (usually done every 4 to 6 weeks) or a small shop mainly for fresh fruit and veg
This week's episode (which I've only part watched) said it was a month's worth of receipts.0 -

If you mean by "many" 1% of the population, then you're right.
The rest just fell for another marketing hype of the food industry. They even advertise products as gluten free which never had gluten in it.
Care to share some links to some scientific studies about the "adverse effects" of gluten?0
