I liked the couple last night. I was shocked though that she said she threw away around £60's worth of food a week - that's more than me and OH spend on food for a week.

Probably done for the tv but when she was throwing what looked like half a large pasta bake in the bin I just wondered why she made such a large amount and why she didn't think of putting it in the fridge for another meal.

I'd quite like to know how many weeks of receipts the programme looks at. My shopping costs can vary a lot from week to week depending whether I am doing a large shop (usually done every 4 to 6 weeks) or a small shop mainly for fresh fruit and veg

I think the problem with so much waste is that people are nervous of trusting their instincts where food is concerned. If I'm not going eat something 99% of the time I'll freeze it, the same going for food that might not get eaten in time. Even milk can be frozen. You can always get food back out of the freezer but once it's gone off its waste.
As a child of older parents my mum was very frugal and very little was wasted and what couldn't be eaten went in the dogs bowl.

It said before the start of the programme that it was the last one and yet at the end they showed part of next week's one!

Lovely couple last night, just seemed they had lost their way and needed a bit of help on the menus

I've never had children but have looked after the kids when they were younger and now the grandkids, and it was I have to admit, a darn sight easier to cater to them, then have them not eat, even is that meant we adults lived on bland food. Now I've only looked after kids for short periods and fall into that trap, I can see how easy it was for her when she has kids day in and out

The wraps are something we eat a lot of here for lunch or cba night. I liked the look of those little egg muffin things, will make great lunch box fillers

I think I will also give the chickpea burgers a try as I'm always looking a veggie option quick tea/lunch which the grandkids will like

Once again the dietitian bit was pretty informative. I knew about the portion size but didn't know it was based on a woman. Does anyone know if that's the case of food products geared towards children?

I made mini tortillas straight after the programme ended, thinking they would be good for work. But they all stuck in my new muffin tin. It took ages to soak and scrape and clean the tin. I think I may buy a silicone one next time I see one on offer.
I did grease the tin well before baking.

My daughter does baked eggs at night for her breakfast at work whereas I like my egg yolk runny so when I do a baked egg with bacon and tomato I don't cook them for too long.

We use a silicon muffin tray (saw a large/deep one in a £ shop the other day) and I spray a little Frylight oil and wipe it round with a bit of kitchen towel.
Its not that we have more patience as we grow older, its just that we're too tired to care about all the pointless drama ;)

I wonder if the schedule will be disrupted for the Olympics but the rest of the series will be on when the games are over.

I enjoyed last night's programme. It was good to have a woman I warmed to and a guy wasting money as I've felt very sorry for the men in recent programmes working all hours for the women to waste it.

Part of the programme didn't ring true in that he was unlikely to be home from work in time to eat the 'school dinner' type food she was serving to the children. I think his bad habit had developed from the fact that she probably ate with them so he bought himself something tasty on the way home and then he could be adventurous as it was only him eating. She had her '10 favourite meals' that made up her meal plan but they obviously weren't his favourites. The outcome that they were talking to each other more was a good one.

I noticed that the bavette steaks and the own brand tuna were from Waitrose. Did anyone notice where the cava came from (other than Spain;))?

    Thanks. Is it this one:

I'd recommend the Cremant du Jura sparkling chardonnay from Aldi at £7.49. Don't be put off by the grape, it's dry and fabulous!:D

We have been making the egg and cheese muffins they showed a couple of weeks ago and have been surprised at how nice they are. A quick and easy breakfast.

i have been watching the series but with no interest from the rest of the family however last night my daughter watched it and seems really keen .Today i have bought derving jars , sugar free jelly and strawberries .They have worked out at 27p a pot as opposed to the 67p my hubby paid for a ready made hartleys jelly pot.

Even went as far as ordering the book so really looking forward to trying out the rest of the ideas.
