That's the reason I left Orange (EE) after 8 years as they promised to bring their call centre jobs back to the UK and then reneged in the promise when the merged with T-Mobile

EE's call centres are in the UK and Ireland.....

The ones I've dealt with are, anyway :)

[W]hy outsource more jobs than we have to- very few other countries do that on such a scale as the UK does?
Because it saves money and many UK companies have no concept of proper customer service.
  • Saves money short term, loses money long term as people move away as they prefer UK Call centres.

And if the staff at BTs call centre in India re anything to go by, they have absolutely no concept of customer service - it's quite the worst I have EVER experienced.

I agree their customer service is poor, but if you think BT is the worst, you've obviously never tried TalkTalk.

I have found 9 out of 10 times if you use their ring back in an hour service instead of queuing you get someone from the British call center ringing back.
I have never managed to get through to the British call center by just waiting.
Also their online chat quite often is someone from Britain.

I have exactly the same problem and have been calling BT almost on a weekly basis due to an ongoing broadband fault. So many promised call backs and empty promises and totally useless information from the Indian call center.
I questioned a guy from Swansea on it last week and he said they all have the same training, but based on that call alone they clearly don't!

I spoke to someone from a British call centre a few weeks ago at BT, didn't find them to be any more helpful than their non-UK based call centre staff. When I complained about promised action not being taken their response was just "oh we don't have any record of that on our system". BT's customer service is pretty poor in my experience, no matter who you speak to.
  • ...it's the number you call if you want to leave BT - 0800 783 1401. Select option 1 (you want to leave) and you will get to talk to a sensible person. If you don't select option 1, you will be redirected to India. Explain that you are thinking of leaving because of your problem which hasn't been sorted and they should actually do something.
