We were married 23 years, and, as he was a high earner, and me a stay at home mum, it meant that the court ordered on the side of disparity of our our earnings/potential earnngs. We are very best friends still, and he will be coming to my graduation. He is still a high earner, flying off to Isle of Man and Jersey weekly as part of his job.
  • Does it matter what you'd do with a PhD or masters?

If you enjoy the studying then why not?

No, it really doesn't matter, but it did come across as a put down. I am sure it would not come across like that in person, no bother.

Lifetime maintenance? I really want to get married one day but stuff like this scares me. I don't know the details, he could have cheated on you for all I know and deserves what he gets in that case, but daym.

That is a post for another forum, or you could just pick up a legal textbook on divorce and family law.

Mmm yes, but a masters is very different to a PhD.

Yes have replied to that. I have no idea how to reply to specific posts, but you all come across as lovely anyway.

Uni are being very good with asking me to come in and look over my cv, what cv?

Back then, I worked for Littlewoods catalogues, twice, as I went back on their debt collection services, from there went to United Utilities, was actually NorthWest Water then, then to a frontline 999 response for the whole of Lancashire in ambulance response service. I was the one answering the calls , along with one other person.

You've got plenty to put into a CV - lots of skills from those jobs, plus all the transferable skills that you have from running a household plus the evidence of your determination in going back to uni and getting a First.

This post has really annoyed me, and thank you Voyager. If you are not even married yet, then why even be picking up on this, He did not cheat on me, nor me him. Sometimes marriages do not work for other reasons, and the courts decide who has put what into the marriage, and what they are likely to acheive in years to come. Lifetime maintenance is very rare nowadays.

You are selling yourself short you clearly have so many skills, you may just need help recognising how to apply them to a CV.

I'm tired and off to bed, but will pick up on this thread tomorrow, thanks all for being kind. I did my dissertation on acts of kindness :-)
