Windows 10 free upgrade

The reason they're offering 10 for free is because its so sh*t.... and they want all your personal info.
Windows 10 is great. I've upgraded may half a dozen to 10 machines from 7 to 10 with no issues at all.
In fact, i just a fortnight ago upgraded a pair of 9 year old - yes 9 years old!! - Dell D620 laptops from XP to Win 10 and it has transformed them! One i just stuck a 500GB 2.5GB HDD drive i have into it, and the other i put in a £24.99 120GB SSD drive. The latter is also running a full install of Office 365 and is the machine i use when i'm away with my work.
Both run faster with Win 10 than they did with XP or Win 7.
Interestingly neither needed any drivers to run, Win 10 either had the right drivers or found the right drivers. None of this looking for drivers nonsense you have to do with Win 7.
Both are running great.
My main machine is a HP Envy i7 running Win 10 and again, its great. Very easy to use.0 -

They're not offering it for free, they're charging for it.
However they are offering a free upgrade to people who have Win 7 upwards. This makes sense for them as Win 10 will then become the "standard" O/S that will receive upgrades and updates, rather than them having to release a full new O/S every few years.
Seems like a sensible approach to me.0 -
Not being very tech savvy I am dithering about upgrading my 8 month old laptop from Windows 8.1 to 10. This is not because I am particularly attached to 8.1 (liked 7 better) but because I have heard I will in all likelihood have problems with iTunes and video playback (short clips taken with my camera) after an upgrade. Is it true that these two things won't work properly and if so is there a SIMPLE fix? Also, any other potential problems I should be aware of before I make my decision.
I know there and lovers and haters of Windows 10 but I hope someone will be able to give me some solid information on what the main differences/ issues will be. Thanks in advance.0 -

GWX will vanish shortly I gather, as you'll miss the opportunity to upgrade for free.0 -
iTunes works fine with Windows 10 and you shouldn't have any problems with your camera clips. As already said, you can use VLC player if you hit any snags. Not being very tech savvy I am dithering about upgrading my 8 month old laptop from Windows 8.1 to 10. If you do the upgrade, you can always revert easily back to 8.1 if you find any major problems. I've not found any on the machines I've upgraded.
From 8.1 to W10, you shouldn't find any issues.Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

That is very reassuring - thank you. Is this VLC a free download from somewhere?0 -
