If you want to make sure the rocker gasket is leaking give the top of the engine a clean with degreaser including all round the join between the cover and engine. Check it again in a week and see if there is any fresh oil there.
If this is the leak isn't a big job, £10 to £20 for a gasket plus labour.0 -
You say the rocker cover is oily
Is there a pipe in the rocker cover near to the build up of oil?
If so it could be a blocked PCV valve.
A blocked PCV can cause oil leaks and oil consumption that is often reduced to near zero after the valve is replaced.
You might need to read some US based forums for info on the PCV as few people seem to bother with them in the UK.
In the US they treat them as a consumable.0 -
