Using alot of oil
My car is a Ford Mondeo 03 . Currently it has been using quite alot of oil . a litre in a week. I havnt done a big journey really. I would expect it to reduce if I had done alot of motorway miles but I havnt.
There is no smoke from the exhaust , no reduction of collant, its not over heating and is generally running fine.
I bought a non brand of oil and switched breifly to morrisons petrol, will that make a difference .
God I sound blonde. Althought the bodywork isnt in good nick ( rusty) it goes ok.
Oh and another bot of advise I need is if anything is wrong with it , as its probly only worth scrap value , what car is best to get .
Thanks
Dizz

Keep topping it up and drive on at it.
That sort of oil usage is not going to be economical to repair0 -
I kind of figured that. Im a skinflint and dont want to spend money on a car. But I may have to in this case
It goes in to the garage for something unrelated next week. Ill have a word and ask them to look at it.

if it's not burning it, it's leaking it, is there any pools of oil under the car after use?0
-
Nope no pools. Been keeping an eye on that. Its all rather strange.ONE HOUSE , DS+ DD Missymoo Living a day at a time and getting through this mess you have created. One day life will have no choice but to be nice to me :rotfl:0

I drive a Mk4 Mondeo, and found that Morrisons diesel gave me 5-6 mpg less than other brands. I've found Halfords own fully synthetic oil to be very good. Maybe try that."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0

Did you buy the right viscosity of oil?0
-
5w30 . always bought that . Might try halfords. Just getting to one.
Theres a local place near home ill get a fully synthetic and go from thereONE HOUSE , DS+ DD Missymoo Living a day at a time and getting through this mess you have created. One day life will have no choice but to be nice to me :rotfl:0 -
What Mondeo is it?
Could be turbo failing.
Although I suspect you've the 1.8 petrol, not an uncommon problem.
I have the 2.0 GHIA X petrol that got through about 6ltrs per month :-O
New rings and stem seals and gets through zilch. Although wish I got rid a long time ago0 -
Im looking to get rid in the near future just need to tide me over till I find the car i want. it is a 1.8 petrol graphite I think . I actually dont sound as dumb as I feel now. Plus the turbo failing sounds expensive

Ps thanks for all your help up to now guys and gals.ONE HOUSE , DS+ DD Missymoo Living a day at a time and getting through this mess you have created. One day life will have no choice but to be nice to me :rotfl:0
