I travel 42 miles from Liverpool to Manchester. I initially took the train for 6 months (10min walk 30 min train), then moved to National Express coaches to save money for 1.5 years (15min walk, 1-2.5 hours travel. You will not have a life if you choose this option), bought a Megane (45min-1.5hours) which was £60 a week, traded it in for a polo 1.2 bluemotion which is £30 a week.Started 07/15. Car finance £6951 , Mortgage: 261k - Savings: £0! Home improvements are expensive0

I work about 8 miles from work... when its 4.15 am i can get there in about 12 minutes which is great. Othertimes it can take 30 mins so getting the train for 10 mins is a lot better.
I earn a good salary of 51k at 24 so wouldnt be moving, I love living so close to work and couldnt think of anything worse than commuting... i take all you commuters to work anyways... ha0 -
36 miles. Takes 45-60 mins by car.
I'm lucky in that I can work flexibly to avoid the worst of the rush hours, and I work from home at least one day a week.
It also helps that the majority of it is motorway mileage (A1M) which is easier to drive on than a smaller A road. I used to commute 15 miles on a smaller A road, took 35 mins but 20 of that was trying to get through town at rush hour (no flexibility in that job) then a heavily used local A road. It was a shorter commute time wise but more stressful - more junctions, roundabouts, town driving.0 -

22 steps from the bedroom to my office. I once worked one and a half hours drive each way, including the M25, an unreliable one and a half hours due to numerous delays en-route. Sometimes I left home at 6.30am and couldn't even get into work by 9am, such were the delays. Never again.0

3 miles daily walk getting quite imminent now - shall never have retained as much of the minimum wage ever for less hours! My lotta miles car finally getting a rest! So I've really never had it so good
Only caution sticks out on commuting is what happens if you fall unwell re getting doctors appointment with being so far from home and all that. Plus Back up fund requirement for advance fares? or if driving things like breaks going much more quickly.
When I was commuting a long way, they would always look at me first as much as to enthasise I wasn't the local-ton during convo's of 'we employ local people'.can't believe a job search site now asks if you are sure of wanting to apply when it picks up you are out of area even!! Sad to see as well.

Roughly 30 minutes from Heanor to Derby in the evening and around 40 minutes on the return journey due to people commuting to Nottingham near Radio Derby in the morning.
Don't mind as it's a fairly pleasant run (much more enjoyable than my previous commute from Derby to Ashbourne along the A52 via Markeaton Island!!)It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -

I walk 7 minutes to the station and then either 2 minutes or 4 minutes on the tube to the station I'm working at, depending on the shift. And it costs me nothing. That suits me fine.0
