Ebay Setting buyer requirements to avoid "dodgy" buyers

eBays seller requirements seem to be set up to allow as many dodgy buyers through the net as possible. They are there to look like they care about seller safety
All you can do is deal with this and move on.
There's always the chance that the item has proved to be faulty after you sent it, but if you believe it isn't then you must insist the buyer start a SNAD case and pay to get it returned to you before you refund.( so that depends on the value etc etc)
sadly you are in a no win situation with ebay. you can only deal with it in a way to not add a defect to your account0 -
In the space of an hour the buyer sent me about 10 messages, threatening me with all sorts if I did not refund him immediately.
Now everything's been quite for nearly 5 hours, perhaps he's given up.0 -

Buyers can be odd, but that doesn't negate your responsibilities as a seller. I find it best to shower the oddballs with kindness.0 -

If he does message you again, ask him to open an official Ebay 'Not as Described' request. If he's just trying his luck he won't open the case.
Don't forget to add him to your Blocked Buyer List.0 -

I guess the key question is how to tell genuine new buyers from scammers in another dress.
eBay allows new accounts to be created for existing customers. I don't know whether any reports associated with the existing accounts will be reflected in the new accounts.
For me, I always phone the new buyer's Paypal phone number to check if it is a genuine purchase. That does not resolve all of the problems but help to reduce the chance of unauthorised transaction by scammers.0 -
