    Hi OP,
I was in a similar position when changing my 59 plate Focus 1.6 petrol, after test driving a focus 1.0 EcoBoost (125bhp) and a 1.5 EcoBoost, the bigger engine was clearly more powerful, but I was pleasantly surprised with the 1.0 EcoBoost (125) performance.
I purchased the 1.0 (125) titanium and 14 months later I am more than happy with it, no noticeable difference from my old 1.6 apart from £20 a year tax and less visits to the petrol pump !
No slouch around town (average 42-44 mpg) and will cruise on the motorway 80-90 mph (ahem 70) while returning about 50 mpg.
Hope that helps with your decision making process, whatever you choose, good luck and enjoy.

That's the kind of info that helps somebody make an informed decision.

Same conclusion as Fifth Gear when comparing the 1.0 Ecoboost and 1.6 Engine

    Skoda Octavia,

Essentially a Golf with a massive boot....suitable for golf clubs. Nice cars, good selection of engines and come with a good range of toys.

Honda Civic? bit smaller than an Octavia but the boots on them are massive, much bigger than the Golf, Focus, Leon etc.

Having said that I'd also recommend Octavia as previously mentioned - which has a bigger boot than the civic

Take some of the online boot sizes with a pinch of salt.

I was comparing 2 cars, the boot on one was longer, wider and taller yet the other one was quoted as having a larger boot (in litres).

Not sure how they managed that?

I watch it when I see it listed! I find it using the search function on the Sky box sometimes.

I think they stopped making it for a while.
  • Hi all,

I have tried a VW golf, Audi A3 and Focus 1.0 Ecoboost. Didn't rate golf but liked A3 and Focus.

I have had a few friends that have told me not to touch KIA due to problems with it. They have told that is why KIA give 7-year warranties due to problems with car.

    Any views please ?

Dads had 2 Kia's the first they replaced due to a constant stream of issues that never seemed to end.

Current one is almost 10 years old and only minor issues, parts prices are a little dearer than equivalent Ford parts.

    DYOR (Do your own research).

Read the Honest John reviews and find out how they are rated in the Warranty Direct reliability index. That will be much more reliable than random mates and strangers on bulletin boards.
