The original post of HPCL forum has been edited now to just say "it's all about sentiment now..", but the original text is above and I have a screen shot too.

If you've done your maths, can handle an increase in interest rates which won't put you in danger of a repossession, and you won't be upset if/WHEN the house prices fall 10-20% at not having waited, then by all means buy now, but then I would question why you're on a forum called "moneySAVINGexpert" if you're not interested in saving money and the desperation of being a home owner is that great that you're willing to rush the biggest financial decision of your life.

Pure speculation. No-one knows what's going to happen and let's face it the HPCL have been constantly and repeatedly wrong for well over a decade and it's cost them a lot of money and stress and made a lot of BTL landlords happy to have somebody paying their mortgage for them.

It may be wise to hold off and wait and see, but it may not. who knows for sure? Everybody has to make their own decision.

Even if prices are going to come down a bit, it doesn't make lying and being deceitful about things okay and the right thing to do.

They spent 10 years being wrong. That's enough to make anyone bitter. Anyway it's a UKIP love fest over there, let them enjoy themselves they got one thing going for them for once.

As for house prices, it's not a given if we will see significant falls or rises, no one really knows. New builds may suffer (look at householder shares at the moment) and London might see bigger problems, but the fantasy over there of "across the board" 20% plunges are just that - fantasy.

All of the evidence points to falling prices. Why would you ignore it?

I'm a little confused as to how you know these posts are not genuine? Are you saying they're from people on another forum?
  • Exactly! The house we are buying is still worth to us the same as it was 2 days ago.

Like you said, if it had a bad survey then that's a totally different scenario.

Brexit has not made the house worth any less "to us".

If 50% of buyers drop out of the market then the house is not "worth the same to you as it was 2 days ago" as your money would buy a much nicer house.

I'm not saying this will happen, but houses have no intrinsic value. nothing does. Everything is driven by how many people want it, and what price thy are prepared to pay.

But they haven't, so right now the house is worth the same to us as it was 2 days ago.

If house prices dropped so would the selling price of our home so we'd have less money to buy the next house. Yes, the next house would be cheaper too so we'd be no better or worse off than we are now.

We are still buying and hope the rest of the chain are too.

Nope, not at all. If anything, a drop in prices would help me upsize.

I just don't think it's right that a bunch of pathetic, bitter, whining failures try to deceitfully manipulate the situation to favor themselves at the expense of causing hardship, stress and grief to normal, honest people.

It's a very selfish, greedy and self centered act and just goes to show what a sad bunch of bitter and twisted losers most of you HPC lot are.

Being wrong for all these years has obviously affected you a lot. Think about things, put it into perspective and get some decency and morals.

PS Be careful what you wish for. Any crash would be probably be followed or caused by a recession and you losers may find yourselves out of a job or unable to get even a small mortgage.

Who is this 'you lot' that you are talking about exactly? Who is being deceitful?

The only things I can see on this forum are people being worried and uncertain about their future. Or does merely talking about the possibility of house prices falling mean that someone is a manipulative moral-less loser?

    But they haven't

How do you know that to be true? Other than anecdotal evidence, there are no buyer statistics for what is happening with the market right now, until at least July (or is it August, when the ONS/HPI/Halifax/Nationwide release their data for this month?).
    But they haven't

If you're selling to move "up" the chain to a more expensive house, the proportional difference will be less so you'd still save money even selling yours for less, but it could be that if the price difference isn't much, it woudn't be worth you hanging about anyway, if you can still achieve the same price for your property as you set out to before Brexit.

50% haven't, no. It's being reported that some have. I'd be tempted to wait a little while and see what was going on.
