    Good morning everyone :D:D:D
I am still alive, just about. As I suspected, work and marking just all got a bit much and for the past fortnight I've done literally nothing else. There is still a lot of marking to do and work hasn't finished for the summer yet but it should be less intense than it has been for the past 2 or 3 weeks.
I hope that everyone is doing ok - sorry I won't have time to go back and catch up on everything I've missed, but I'll soon slot back in as though I've never been away.
Yorkshirelass - keep up the gym classes. You are allowed to have something for you, and if that's all that it is then there's really nothing to worry about. Why wouldn't you be entitled to some wellbeing for yourself?
Well - I got back from London late last night and the house looks as though a small nuclear device has gone off in it... So I've been busy all morning.
    Here's today's list:
    check banking and PAD
 claim for my train delay last night
 get my expenses claim in asap
 text my dad as it's his birthday
    hoover
 catch up on the washing
    ds to gymnastics
    dd to a party
 ds to his football presentation evening
    marking
    planning for next week
 catch up a bit on here
    bit of shopping
That is going to be more than enough for today I think. I'm still looking very busy indeed.

Back again, having a little breather. Thanks for the kind words about the gym classes, you have made me feel better and after all its paid for by me doing 1.5hrs of my second job every week.

PPea I didnt know you were having all this going on with the wedding venue, how awful for you. Hope it gets sorted.

Right, back to the laptop for a bit.

We STILL don't have our deposit back from the wedding venue that let us down. He assured us he's meeting with the insurers on Monday, and that we will get our £500 back soon. As he was a friend of my OH we're in a difficult position. Our wedding insurance won't pay out as he hasn't gone into liquidation. I contacted HSBC who emailed me a chargeback form to complete and send off. The problem with this is he doesn't have the money according to him and I paid on my debit card rather than credit card so not covered by Section 75. I think what we'll do is give him a couple more weeks and if he still doesn't pay up we'll go down the CCJ route. OH doesn't want him at the wedding anymore.

Sorry to hear of your trouble.

Remember with the Chargeback Scheme you have 120 days from when you became aware of the problem to claim. Also you have 540 days from the date of the transaction to claim.

If you used your debit card to pay money into your PayPal account and paid through PayPal you can't use the Chargeback Scheme.

The main thing you are trying to prove under the Chargeback Scheme is "breach of contract". So whatever proof you have of the contract being broken needs to be submitted.

Also remember that sometimes a bank will make you a refund in the form of an Interim Refund. This would be a payment made before they have fully investigated the matter. If you receive an Interim Refund and the bank later finishes it's investigation and doesn't find in your favour the bank can take the money off you again.

    I'm back,

Visited six charity shops and managed to get a photo frame for £1.75.

Also managed to get a wee haul in Morrisons:

    * 6 pitta breads for 25p: heading into the freezer for packed lunch next week.

    * Three packets of crumpets for 20p each headed into the freezer for breakfasts.

    * One bottle of Schloer reduced to £1.25. Cheaper than a bottle of wine.

    * Tray of belly pork slices for DW. £1.15 reduced from £5.14.

    * Two individual scallops for £1.20. ( I prefer going to the fishmonger but never quite got there.)

    How about you folks?

Just back from the fair. Skies opened about half an hour after the end thank goodness or would have ruined the day. Sons scooter sold for £5 so he's very pleased. We only paid £10 for it brand new from Toys r us several years ago :)

Princess I really hope you get your money back. I think it must feel doubly bad because of the trust issues. A few years ago my husband and I were ripped off by a cowboy builder. It was really upsetting as he was really pally with us and we liked him. We not only lost about £2.5k but had to pay a new company on top to repair the bad work he had done. So I feel for you. I was also 4 months pregnant with DS at the time and was without a kitchen for months. I wouldnt have him at your wedding either!

Yorkshire Im another voting for keeping your gym class. It sounds like a real lifeline for you in a difficult time. I know its cheesy but what would you advise your best friend if it was her not you? Being kind is so important.

LegoMum sounds a wonderful start to the day.

    Evening all :)
Thanks for starting the thread PF :)
Yorkshirelass, I agree with everyone else, the gym classes should stay!
Princess, what a horrible situation. Hope it all gets sorted, and I wouldn't have him at MY wedding either!

    List for today:
Finally got all my and OH's business paperwork stuff to the accountant :T I know that we technically have ages to do it yet, but I like to get it out of the way and not have to think about it any more!
Shopping at Mr S, used vouchers :)
    Posted 2 ebay parcels
Listed a couple more items (making the most of free listing till the 30th :D)
HM meals from stores - we cooked a big gammon joint, which will do most of the week, in one or other guise :D
Got a load of washing dried between thunderstorms
Picked a bowlful of strawberries :D

I would like to be doing some gardening this evening, but the weather doesn't seem to be cooperating

Out for a friend's birthday lunch tomorrow, which will be nice :)

Not sure if I'll manage to get back in until a week on Monday as we are away. We are likely to be popping back on Thursday literally for half an hour to drop off dirty washing collect clean things and our camping stuff before heading out to a weekend HE camp. We have been very cheeky and given my sister our tent to put up on Thursday so when we roll up in the evening we only have put out our sleeping bags and go to sleep.

I managed everything on my list, including drying 2 loads on the line, we were just about to put the third load out when we felt rain, so that ended up on the airier and is now dry and just before we came to bed OH put the 4th load on the airier (the load I intended doing overnight) I did this this evening as I managed to sit in cake that one of the visiting toddlers decorated the floor with, my only silly faulty as I knew she had made a mess whilst enjoying her cake but I sat on the floor to sort something out before we'd swept up, doh. I am planning on taking the trousers away with me, with any luck the will be dry by morning and if not they will only be damp and can finish drying on the parcel shelf. I have done laundry this week but I still managed to do 4 loads, 1 was delicates, it also included various pieces of clothing that the children discard any old place, that the were told to round up. The wash basket will be empty and the house will be tidier for our return.

Thanks for all the advice. Unfortunately other that the receipt for £500 we don't have anything in writing!!! How stupid are we :( We do have text messages where we're asking for the money back and he keeps saying he's chasing the insurers and that he "understands" - could this also be evidence?

A friend came round yesterday with a template letter for us to fill in and post to him so we can start a paper trail. We'll see what he says on Monday and if it still isn't good enough we'll start the process. Hopefully the prospect of a CCJ will wake him up!

Bob that sounds horrific, especially in the early stages of pregnancy. Like us we liked our 'friend' and trusted him not to screw us over, he knows how little money we have and how hard we're working to pay for the wedding. I don't understand how people can be so duplicitous.

Anyway... I'm off to work to do 4 hours overtime...

    Hi everyone

PF - thanks for the kick off yesterday.
PP - how awful about your wedding deposit. Your friend's letter sounds like a good place to start.
BB - my friend is away to a HE camp too - I wonder if it's the same one. #smallworld :)

Big waves to everyone else

I got back from holiday yesterday. In a total depression about the result on Friday. Keep breaking down in tears. No joke.

Small things side of things (although seem v insignificant in the grand scheme of things):

    Sort YNAB
Clean and tidy (will take most of the day)
    Look for jobs abroad
Sort website - change to classes
Covering 4 classes this week so need to do a bit of prep
Watching a film on net flix to take my mind off things

    Catch up soon everyone
