    Hi all

Cupboard sorting. Sounds dull but I am actually finding it very satisfying. A few things listed on ebay, I dont really do selling on ebay much nowadays as I think the amount received isnt worth the hassle most of the time but there is no harm trying with a few things.

Dont tell DH but I have been very rebellious and taken an old tent to the skip. I did try to sell it at the car boot sell for peanuts and it didnt sell, I really dont think its worth anything and we have had our moneys worth out of it. He wanted it to go on ebay but I would hate to sell it to someone then it leak or the poles snap. He will never know its gone.

Oh and a couple of winter coats washed, hoping I will get a bit longer out of my "good" work coat. Hats and gloves to sort. Need to make a decision about the v expensive trainers I bought a couple of years ago that I dont really wear any more. Might try and get an idea of what similar ones sell for.

Right DS2 says its time for tea and cake so I am not arguing with that.

Thanks for all the advice. Unfortunately other that the receipt for £500 we don't have anything in writing!!! How stupid are we :( We do have text messages where we're asking for the money back and he keeps saying he's chasing the insurers and that he "understands" - could this also be evidence?

A friend came round yesterday with a template letter for us to fill in and post to him so we can start a paper trail. We'll see what he says on Monday and if it still isn't good enough we'll start the process. Hopefully the prospect of a CCJ will wake him up!

There are a few ways to prove that an oral contract exists. The contents of an oral contract will normally be a matter of oral evidence submitted to the judge: it may help if there was more than one witness to what was said.

If he denies the existence of a contract it may be possible for the you to show that you had reason to trust him. Perhaps you bought a service from him before with an oral contract and he delivered that service. It would be reasonable to assume that the next time you bought a service by verbal agreement he would deliver.

Or it may be possible for the you to show that an act of part performance is evidence of the contract. Perhaps he started to make plans with you. He wouldn't have done that if there was no contract.

Make sure the letter you give him has a deadline on it. "Pay up within 30 days" is usual.

If you end up going to court file your papers online. This costs £35. If you file your papers in person on paper it'll cost you £50. (Link)

    Hi June Jubilatants,

    Myself and DW
went Bee Spotting at a local Site of Special Scientific Interest. We managed to get out for an hour before the rain came on and spotted three species. Free walk, no entry fee. Took a drink with us, then two hours of entertainment faffing with the photos afterwards. Also spotted our first ever Lark, a buzzard, oystercatchers, goldfinches and various molluscs.

SSSIs are great places to visit because you can often see rare things there; for nothing. There's a list here (General Link) (English Link) (Scottish Link) (Welsh Link) (NI Link).

The game we play is to find and area and look up what rare wildlife is there, then we respectfully go looking for it.

Now can't be smurfed to get off the sofa, which is a cheap pasttime.

    How about you folks?

Yorkshire Lass agree with the others I think that you need this time to keep your self well and able to cope. Princess Pea, the letter and any evidence you can gather together is a good idea.

Have had a mixed weekend. Had a power cut and off yesterday from about 4pm to 10pm. I wasn't going to risk the meat, soft cheese and yoghurts in the fridge so had to throw away about £50 worth of food. :-( I am going to try and claim compensation but I have no idea how to go about this and whether its worth bothering?!

I've had a good Debt busting day today.
    Sold 2 things on eBay
Used Costa and Morrisons loyalty vouchers
    Did a market research
Someone on here reminded me to cancel insurance that I don't need anymore
    Postcode lottery
Cut my DDs fringe all wonky!

Looking forward to a few NSD's whilst I a back at work this week,

Princess it gets so complicated trying to regain money. In our case we did the write to him thing setting a deadline. Then we did small claims court who ruled in our favour. However when the enforcers tried to collect the nasty bleep answered the door to them and said he'd never heard of himself! He didnt own his house and we took the view that forcing bankcrupy was not worth while as you have to pay a lot and then join the line to get anything back. The laws a funny thing.

    Hi everyone
I may not be back on twice a day at the moment, but 2 days in a row is a real bonus. :D
PP - sorry about your so-called friend. I am a scarily honest person so never understand how people can behave in such a way. I really hope you get your cash back.
LaE - sorry I don't know what your news is but I will go and find out. :grouphug: Edit: I guess you mean the referendum result. It has been more than a bit of a shock to my system as well...

Busy day as always yesterday - got lots done...

    Here's today's list:
    [STRIKE] check banking and PAD[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE] claim for my train delay last night[/STRIKE]
 get my expenses claim in asap
[STRIKE] text my dad as it's his birthday[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE] hoover[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE] catch up on the washing[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE] ds to gymnastics[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE] dd to a party[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE] ds to his football presentation evening[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE] marking[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE] planning for next week[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE] catch up a bit on here[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE] bit of shopping[/STRIKE]

Last night was a lovely night out. DS won the player's player football award. Voted for by the rest of his team, which I was really pleased with. Such a proud mam. Plus one of his friends has a crush on dd, which entertained me for hours, but she was horrified with.
Today has been another busy one, and spendy as well. My self esteem has done one, and I'm putting loads of weight on again so no clothes fit. And I have a stiff neck, so wanted new pillows as well.
    Plus:
    ;) PAD
    ;) Tutoring
;) Coffee catch up with bestie
    ;) £18 A$da outfit
;) £18 pillow pair for me and dh (reduced frim £65!)
;) Batch cook for week ahead
    ;) Bit more housework
    ;) Bit more washing
    ;) Bit more marking
    Just business as usual really...

    We've had a busy day. I have
    - Tidied and decluttered my sons clothes cupboard. Clothes into a charity shop bag
    - Sorted DDs clothing drawer. Lots of 3 to 6 month clothing packed away or charity shopped. Now I can see what is actually there.
    - Me, DH & DS did a big 1 hour hit on the back garden, weeding & cuttting back the bay tree bush that is enormous and needed it. There are still many hours ahead of us on this as the garden is massive and very out of shape. But we made a start and DD played on a rug with some toys.
    - Took 5 bin bags of weeds out to the bin
    - Made home made pizzas. Am stuffed. OH and I had a big one each. Son a smaller one. And there are 2 large ones cooked and leftover for lunches this week.
    - Water fight was free entertainment this afternoon & park trip this mornings
    - Went through a stack of royal mail reciepts and checked all items recieved then filed the stack.
    - Threw out a kids game with missing parts

    All for now

    Bob

Back from a great weekend. Didn't manage to spend anything today :D, can't say the same for yesterday. However, it could have been a lot worse - hotel room was the cost it was  but amazing ;) we spent £45 drinks on 4 of us over 11 hours in an expensive hotel. Could have been much, much worse. Plus it was an amazing day for very special friends that I wouldn't have missed it for the world.

Yorkshirelass I think you should carry on doing your classes, for a zillion reasons, but not least if it works for your mental health then it's worth it. Any chance you could pay a monthly membership or block book to make it cheaper.

La E hope you had a great break :D

Off to chill with DH and have an early night, am knackered.
