About to buy first home - how will EU result affect us?

Are people really so deluded to think what we say on here is going to impact national house prices!!
To the OP, a economist report just out today predicted a gradual fall of 20% this is not a "small amount" as you put it, prices can and will fall to 2008 levels, but the scary thing is in 2008 we were waiting for the recession to clear and had clear global plan (with all countries affected) this time there is no road map of how things will look and how our economy will change
I personally am buying but my partner as an EA will financially suffer as most her pay is commission based, so i have no real desire foe huge drops, but you cant control what is inevitable. Her work have also "briefed" them to dismiss people who talk negatively about prices, by saying supply will drop and demand will now increase keeping prices up... Ignoring all the uncertainty. Sums up the intelligence of most EA 's

It's all good and well to just buy because you need a roof above your head but you must consider the consequences of being in negative equity if there is a crash.
Yes, and being in negative equity, and having to fix your own roof and appliances is a right drag.0 -
Earlier today post no 52 of this tread which has now been edited at 12:23 to read 'Double Post' linked DIRECTLY to this thread and this mums net thread crowing that they are trying to change market sentiment but with with a 'careful now, we don't want to be too obvious' warning.
Please note to have a double post you need an original post at the same time. There isn't one.
What will happen next is SoSophie, full of hope and optimism for the future will have her dreams dashed as her chain collapses as under the weight of all the buyers offering 20 or 30% less than the agreed price, isn't that the plan, spunko2010 HPC Veteran. (HPC Stands for House Price Crash in case you were wondering).
SCENE; Internet poster tip toes onto a hostile forum that does not conform to his world view, with the intention of spreading information that could bring the world to an end!
I am trying to sneak in and make some negative comments about the housing market........SSHHHHH....nobody tell! Can you see anything that gives me away though boys and girls?
Some posters on here need to get a reality check :rotfl:
(I guess the Brexit vote IS the reality check, hence all the absolute nonsense being posted about the HPC forum?)0 -
In some respects I hope for a HPC as then I can get a nicer house for less but I reckon there will be no HPC and is business as usual, for now anyway.0

Apologies business although it was clear what I meant from the majority of the phrase being correct.Crashy_Time wrote: »Not sure what you mean?
Why won`t there be a HPC?
Because in all honesty, there's not enough housing as it is, the markets are actually up since the beginning of the week and it isn't going to be as bad as feared. Still whatever happens, money making opportunity for those that can buy at the right time.0 -

I'm not particularly bothered about the underlying intentions, personally a correction of 20% will help first timers no end so that is not a bad thing.
What you appear to disparage is the audacity of myself and other posters pointing out that there have been several threads started on here by new accounts created by spunko2010 as admitted by him on the housepricecrash forum that he is 'doing his bit' to talk the market down. Therefore, this entire thread and others like it are ENTIRELY FICTIONAL. (I put it in capitals as you didn't get that the first time around).
He of course has not talked the market down but if everything had gone to plan and no one had noticed the next logical step would have been to post in a couple of days time that the chain has crashed as everyone is demanding a 20% cut in price.
The topic is worthy of discussion, but wishing him luck or congratulating him on a completely non existent impending house purchase is just playing into this delusion.
Crashy Time - A quick look at your posting indicates you are firmly in the HPC camp. Good luck with that.Edible geranium0 -
Bugbyte, I'm so gutted to read that you think I'm part of some conspiracy!! I'm in the middle of the biggest financial decision of my life, in the middle of one of the most economically uncertain times in years and I thought I'd seek advice from some people who are probably much better informed than I am. Yes, I'm a new poster but that's because I've never had to get financial advice before. I had no idea things on a forum like this could get so bitter and accusatory!
Thanks again to all those who have given genuine and helpful advice. I really appreciate it

Hum. Care to comment on this, which lots of people saw? It was posted on HousePriceCrash by our very own spunko2010:
"I think we can all be pro-active now and do our bit to give any potential downward pressure momentum by getting on other forums that are discussing the effects on house prices and claiming that we are/were potential buyers who have now withdrawn or reduced our offers.
Don't underestimate the power of internet forums, the Daily Mail and Express frequently now have feature articles based on nothing more than threads on Mumsnet, MSE etc
It's all about SENTIMENT and we can influence it."
The next post by the same user listed about 8 threads, four of which, including this one, were on here, the other four on mumsnet. spunko2010 wrote in this post that he had done his part, and that other users should be careful and not be too obvious.
ixwood starts a thread on this and lots of users see it, then spunko2010 deletes the two incriminating posts.
spunko2010 said he created this thread on HPC. Lots of people saw it before he deleted it. ixwood even copied the text. There was a link here and you have a new username. If this was Scooby Doo spunko would be the creepy janitor.Edible geranium0 -
Which still doesn't alter the fact that there are genuine buyers pulling out of purchases, though.0
