Best BT Infinity deal for existing subscribers

Options
Out of interest is anyone nearly up for contract renewal and trying to locate the best deal? How have you done?

I've been with BT FTCC for a fair few years now, and generally happy with the service - no real failures except for HH 5a silliness!

After some discussion & pointing out prices from talktalk, sse (most likely plan B for me), sky I got as far as 10.85 + 18.99 = £29.84 for infinity 1 unlimited. The lowest simple deal in the market was £21 with SSE. No chance of a new HH with that though - only on non-discount tariffs .

I'll probably stay with it since I know the service works well, and I keep thinking g.fast is around the corner - BT retail generally do launch those new products fairly promptly, other providers less so. No *need* to get the smarthub.

Of course that offer was a snapshot.. who knows if it will be available tomorrow...

Haggle. I was out of contract for infinity 2 but in contract for line rental. I told them I will bite the bullet on the line rental and go with someone else. I had done the homework and had quotes for sky, talk talk and Virgin. He dismissed everything as substandard broadband until I told about the virgin deal. Out of nowhere they did have a deal. For 12 months @ £17.50. Out of contract I had to pay £29 for infinity 2. This was a deal not advertised anywhere and it was not even the retention team.

Yep.. I did stage 1 - the actual broadband is down to 10.84 for infinity 1 unlimited...(my line maxes out at 35-40 in any case). 17.50 seems a good price on infinity 2 though. But for comparisons I go with the total price including rental (I'm out of contract on that).

Most current BT users should have received the price increase email .That allows you to phone and cancel without penalty .
You may then be given an offer .
Like BT Line Rental pay advanced before 3rd July its today's price . Bt Infinity 1 52 meg at £10 pm . Plenty of posts on the forum regarding this .

Thanks for confirming. I did look back a month and couldn't see many posts, but perhaps I missed the thread. I'm nearly out of contract (less than a month). Interesting why they insisted on 10.84 vs 10. Not a massive deal but useful info to go back to them with. Helpful tip on the advanced LR too

You have all done well then! What number did you call? I am currently out of contract on standard unlimited broadband and line rental.

Called 0800 587 8820 (believing this was Retentions) and spoke to a young lady today/ Interested in Infinity 1 and was offered £18.99 line rental and £22 for Infinity 1 for 12 months LOL. Quoted Plusnet, Sky and Talk Talk prices to no avail. Need to work on the charm I reckon :)

I only got offered £20 per month for Infinity 1 unlimited, and this is despite me being unhappy with another issue on my bill. So when our advance line rental expires in a few months, and despite my reservations, I'm off to give Sky a try for a year.

Price increase gave you 30 days to cancel .
That would also include cancel and receive a refund pro rata of remaining ALR .

Are you sure of that refund on ALR? If so, I might just phone them back up and switch now instead of waiting.

Edit: And what is the best way of going about it, do I tell BT I'm going to cancel due to the price rises and want a refund on the LR, or do I just start the switch with Sky?

Its as per a post in this forum re BT Price increase thread .Roughly said below and that's all I know .
Basically Ofcom rules that you should not be put at a disadvantage due to the increase .
But you may need to escalate this and may be out of time .

    See.
